“THE NEW PRESIDENT ROOM”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

the food, entertainment.and staff were great but the room my mother and I was allocated was very dismal...I did mention when booking that my mum had a wheelchair and was exxpected to be put into a disabled room, I ended up on the second floor, the room was dark and dismal....I had trouble getting the wheelchair in and out of the hotel and especially in the room, On our last night my mum had a fall in the room causing her to bruise her face on the corner of the wall that was between the bed and where the toilet was...would be ok for normal people without disabillities but this was totally unsuitable for a disabled person the room would be a lot better modernised and made into a single. Maybe this was partly my fault as i should have complained.

Room Tip: If booking a room for a disabled person then please double check that this is what you will get when...

Didn't know what to expect after reading reviews, but glad we whent. Hotel was spotless, food was lovely, and the staff were all friendly, nothing to much trouble. It was real value for money, whent with travel style and for £49 b&b and evening meal selfdrive was great. Even had evening entertainment which was good if you didn't fancy going out,

Five friends travelling for another get together at the New President. It is friendly, welcoming
and clean with really excellent food of the "good home cooking" variety. Breakfast is the full English, and the only place I ever eat fried bread, whether home or away .Dinner, although it is served slightly early for us, is also really good, with a full choice of soup and starters, a roast, a made up dish eg.lasagne or cottage pie, and fish as the mains with 4 or 5 vegetables, and a crumble or sponge pudding for example with custard, also gateaux and cream. Probably we need a long evening to recover from dinner!
The evening entertainment is another plus, even though we never manage to win the Bingo. We don't mind though, with Miss Stephanie sparkling away as she calls the numbers.and then introduces the cabaret, which is always remarkably good, even in the off season.
All in all, we had a very good time and even the weather smiled on us for the last couple of days!

Stayed in the hotel for one night. Found it very good value, spacious triple room 212. Hot water is plentiful, tea and coffee replenished on request. Only had breakfast but it was lovely, don`t usually bother with cooked, but i went back for more. The only problem with this particular room is the kitchen extractor fan is straight outside the window and was very noisy from 7.30 in the morning, but we did have the windows open over night. Noise greatly reduced when the windows were closed. Would stay again...

we stayed 5 days at this hotel from 27th Feb 2012 on a trip with sunrise. The staff at this family owned hotel were absolutely brilliant. The food was first class and more than plentiful. The service we recieved and the price we paid was an absolute bargain. The accomadation for a two star Hotel far exceeded what we expected. The entertainment was first class. The Adverse reports i read before embarking on this break i frankly do not believe. I think there are to many people who expect to pay pennies and get The Ritz. To the owner and staff thank you all.

I booked 4 nights (13th-17th Feb.) at this hotel with Sunrise Coach Tours. On arrival we had a very warm welcome from hotel staff and were shown into the bar area and provided with tea/coffee whilst we completed registration. When I went to my room which was on the 3rd floor I did what I always do first and that is check the bedding and bathroom/toilet for cleanliness and am pleased to say if passed with flying colours. The decor was a bit 'tired' and would benefit from some update but as I would be spending very little time in my room it didn't matter. The meals - breakfast and evening meal - were on self service basis with a reasonable choice were good and tasty. The dining room and tables were immaculate and staff were friendly and helpful. Evening entertainment was excellent and included lots of input from the hotel staff -especially Steph who is an absolute star- I cannot remember when I laughed so much. From the moment we arrived at the hotel until the time we left the attention, friendliness and help shown by staff was 1st class. I must also mention the excellent care and attention given by our coach drivers Colin and Les (David Palmer Coaches) Sunrise Tours.
