We stayed 2 nights at the Carousel, Blackpool for a family wedding. We arrived at 1-30pm and some of the wedding party were already there, having a cup of coffee. Our rooms were all ready and we checked in and went straight up.
Our room (201) was very spacious and had a lovely view (sea). The bathroom was big and the shower was superb - really powerful. I think the room may've been specially adapted for wheel-chairs.
The breakfasts are very good - there is a good selection of cereals and toppings (dried fruit and nuts), along with yogurts, loads of fruit juices (orange, apple, pineapple, cranberry, grapefruit), fresh fruit and pastries. There was also a hot buffet of 'fry-up stuff'. It was all 'as much as you can eat'.
The toaster is a 'conveyer belt job', but does a decent slice.
The reception staff, by and large, are very good and really helpful. We'd heard of a restaurant we wanted to go to on the second night, but didn't know the name. The girl on reception (I'm sorry to say I didn't get her name - she should be commended for her customer service skills) called us a taxi and got the name of resturant and booked it all for us.
I only have 1 issue (and a small gripe) with this hotel and in fairness it was not really the hotel's fault..... We had a sea-view room on the second floor and on the second night we were there, there was another wedding function and the guests were really REALLY noisy. There was screaming and shouting in the street and at one point a fight which nearly resulted in the police being called. There is no air con in the room, so as it was so hot, we had the windows open and could hear it all. After about an hour of really high noise levels (I know people enjoy themselves at weddings, but screaming?!?!), I called reception and the guy there was sympathetic, but said he couldn't really do anything. However, if you are staying here over the Summer months, it might be worth thinking about. - Try a back facing room?
The only other thing were the lifts - tiny - we had to send the bags up on their own and the corridors are narrow in places and make the place look a bit like a warren.
I would stay here again though definitely - it's in a quiet area of south shore, away from all the noise and 'Las Vegas lights'.
