“Wedding 2012”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We got married at the Carousel Hotel on Saturday 01/12/12. We booked their wedding package which included a twin room with dinner and wine for bride and friend the night before, a room for the bride and groom on their wedding night, wedding breakfast, evening buffet, wedding cake, table decoration, D.J, and more. We had a room where the ceromony was held and a large room where the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations were held. The managment and staff could not be more helpful when arranging our special day and on the day everything looked great. The food for the wedding breakfast and evening buffet was lovely and well presented the sevice was good and the staff polite and helful. Many of our guests stayed over and had a good breakfast the following morning. We received many good comments from our guests. We would not hesitate to recomend the Carousel Hotel for weddings, parties or just a break. We had a great weekend, thanks.

We visited this hotel after reading good reviews on the internet and planning a little 'get away' for a weekend. We arrived at the hotel after spending 30 mins trying to find a parking space, the advertised hotel carpark at the rear was full and other cars were blocking the road. We found a space on a side road and ran though awful rain to the hotel. We stood at the front desk for 5 mins but no one appeared. i did the 'attention cough' and a tall lady with brown hair appeared and asked 'can i help' I informed her that i had a reservation and the carpark was full. She told me that the carpark can get full and we have to park elsewhere. She checked us in and informed us of our room, she walked back into the office. There was no 'Welcome to our hotel, hello, spoke about the entertainment offered or even a smile. We made our way to our room via the lift (this was a rather scary experience and the inner doors hit my friend in the face and we shuddered to a halt) We arrived at our room to find a well decorated but very small room (we had asked for the largest double and would even pay extra is needed) the room had a good bathroom and lighting. Our view was dreadful consisting of someone else bedroom, a kitchen extractor fan which hummed constantly and a views over the top of a housing estate. never less we unpacked into the wardrobe and got ready to go out for the evening. My friend went to use the hairdryer which was hard wired into the dresser draw but it did not work, he telephone reception and they said sorry and would try and find a replacement but no one got back to us.
After a interesting evening out on the town we returned to the hotel at about 11pm. We got changed and went to the bar downstairs where there was a quiz and music. The entertainer with the microphone was very funny and sang good songs, the beer was over priced and again no smile or hello from the male who served us. We stayed in the bar until around 12 midnight.
The next morning we headed down for breakfast and was pleased with the selection of food and drink. We was served by a lovely young lady with short blond hair, who showed us to our table and cleared it for us. We had to cue for coffee which took about 15 mins to be refilled and had to fight our way with other residents around large sofas and arm chairs which were in front of the bar, a really awkward place for these to be with people with hot drinks.
We checked out soon after. The same lady behind the counter didn't ask 'was everything ok with your stay, smile or say goodbye just 'yes everything is ok'. Well no its not ok but never mind...

After driving 400 miles to the hotel and booking this hotel because it had parking, we arrived to find there was no available parking, we were advised to park in side streets which were very full. When my husband told the receptionist this her only response was "would you like to cancel your booking ?" We were not impressed. Eventually after driving round for sometime we found a space and had to walk some distance with luggage and a small child to the hotel. Parking outside the hotel to unload was not possible. The bed for our child had not been made up. Our bed had a stained bottom sheet, the mattress was flat as a pancake and you could feel every spring, the TV had no remote and would not work at first and the sea views were only visible through the high windows if you were standing, the windows were further obstructed by the pull out sofa bed and TV, the curtain rail was also coming off the wall. Once again we had to face the frosty receptionist who was trying to justify the faults with the room but said she would send someone up. A very helpful member of staff came to our room. He replaced the bottom sheet and looked for a mattress topper but was unsuccessful. However he did manage to find three duvets which we layered on the shoddy matress which was an improvement. Despite these problems the restaurant food was very good albeit from a set menu and the staff in the restaurant were lovely. Breakfast was also more than adequate. We would not stay at this hotel again simply because of the two receptionists unhelpful attitude and rudeness, the misleading advertisement of parking and sea views, and the state of the bed. Considering this hotel advertises itself as a "sleepwell hotel" with "well appointed bedrooms that guarantee a good night's sleep" we found our experience disappointing. Quite frankly my husband was embarassed with the whole situation as he had booked this hotel for my birthday. Thankfully Blackpool itself proved to be lovely and we had great fun as a family.

Only stayed for one night. I would have given this hotel 4 stars because on the whole it was good. The room was nice and clean - although no sea view. Bathroom modern and hot shower. Lift is very old fashioned but does work. Breakfast buffet was hot and fairly good selection although fried food very oily. What let this hotel down was the staff. Reception staff virtually said nothing on arrival or departure. Not a 'hello and welcome' or 'goodbye and have a good journey'. I would consider these things pretty basic and one of the first things they'd learn when the start training. Also, the hotel is quite far from the main attractions, but tram stop is fairly close. TIP: buy a family tram ticket for a day if more than 2 of you - it's much cheaper and check the back of your tram tickets for money off offers on Blackpool attractions like the Tower.

What's everyone moaning about! This is a nice place, Room service everyday
Good clean rooms, Staff Great,
Food Exactly what you should expect for the price, If you want more, less than 5 mins taxi, Tram ride, you can have whatever you like,

Just off the main drag, Which means you can can get some sleep unlike all of the centre located hotels, Tram stops right outside, what more do you want.

I stayed 5 nights and will be back next year, Well done all the staff

Room Tip: no pool or fitness room but had no option here, 1st stay here, so only tried 1 room, but way above...

Recently had 3 nite stay at the Carousel, 2 adults, 2 children and travelled with friends, again 2 adults, 2 children. Bedroom: Basic but seemed clean, until I dropped black cardigan on the floor, when i picked it up it was covered in hair (previous guests) and fluff from the carpet, didn't seem like it had been vacuumed recently. 1x double bed and 1x sofa bed which was fine until we pulled it out and found the only way to get to the wardrobe was to climb over the beds...great if you're 5 years old, not so great for adults. Bathroom: good size, clean, plenty of towels, nice shower. On our second day the bed was made up and new towels provided however the bathroom was not cleaned, was cleaned on the third day, every second day is not enough, bathrooms should be cleaned every day. Room was not vacuumed during our stay. Breakfast was fine, no waiting for tables. Had dinner in the restaurant one evening, was only ok, soup was lukewarm, main warm, there were only us and about 2-3 other tables so no excuse for not having piping hot food. Now for the staff...the staff in the restaurant are very unhelpful, they don't even appear to speak to one another never mind speak to the customers, did not leave a tip for any of them. The staff who worked behind the bar were very slow. Entertainment staff are good and do make a real effort, kids loved the Halloween disco and games and the junior quiz & deal or no deal we went to. All in all I would not return or recommend this hotel, it is overpriced and really needs to work on it's attitude towards its customers.
