“fantastic!”

Carousel Hotel

Mar 5, 2008

the hotel was absolutley amazing! it was extrememly clean, with towels changed everyday and beds done for you every morning. The buffet breakfast was a good enough reason to wake up in the morning, not to mention the location-right next to pleasure beach and not far from the town centre. Hotel also has free parking which was a bonus. DEFINATELY A 5STAR HOTEL

“Just don't bother”

The facilities are acceptable, but the staff are horrendous!!! I am finding it hard to explain how bad they are!!! These people must be the reason why Blackpool is on the decline, although I must say the Polish staff were quite nice.

“Fantastic Carousel”

Carousel Hotel

We loved everything about our stay at the Carousel, it was easy to find, in a great location with open sea views, sufficient car parking and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable and all the staff were helpful and friendly. There was a choice of either a fine dining restaurant (which looked superb) or a cafe/bar which we chose and found the choice and quality of food excellent. As we had returned to the hotel at 7pm because it was a wet squally night, it was a pleasure to enjoy a nice meal in warm, comfortable surroundings with varied entertainment laid on. Our family party ranged in ages from 4-58 and there was something for everyone. Breakfast was included in the price and was first class. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly be going back in the near future.

I will begin at the start! decided to treat the kids (13 and 14) to a night in Blackpool, shopped around on the net and telephoned the Carousel Hotel, spoke to Carmen (reception manageress) who informed me that the hotel was fully booked for the Friday evening, so proceeded to book online and our booking for a double and twin rooms were confirmed, I telephoned Carmen to inform her that we had indeed recieved confirmation of availability she immediatly said 'What did you do that for' I explained that my partner had booked online as I enquired on the phone she assured me that there was definatly no availability, we telephoned our booking agent who confirmed their was and assured us we had our booking, Carmen telephoned me and sounding a little embarassed also confirmed our booking (How co-incidental)!!!!!! we arrived at Blackpool parked our car at the car park at the rear of the hotel and (without unpacking) proceeded to reception to ask if we may have permission to park whilst we go to the funfair before checking in, time was approx 12:30pm, I arrived at reception and informed the receptionist that we had 2 rooms booked for that evening, before I could go on to explain she snappily replied ' check-in isn't until 2pm' I acknowledged that and I enquired about parking the car, we were given a car pass and we proceeded to the fair, at about 1:45 pm we returned to check-in, we unloaded the car and made our way to reception to be greeted by the lovely Carmen who eagerly informed us check-in was at 3pm, I explained we had been informed 2pm by her colleague (who incidentily suffered a bout of amnesia) as she denied she had informed us 2pm check-in, Carmen and her colleague then began shouting at both myself, partner and 2 daughters, initially I thought that we were on a TV wind-up, in total disbelief we were paying guest's subject to a barrage of verbal shouting and being accused of lying..... one of our daughters was so upset she wished to leave the hotel. we eventually recieved an apology from Carmen, who offered us a round of drinks at the bar by way of apology..... however the damage jhad already been done, after eventually getting the keys to the room, we recieved a knock on our door, and a lady (with clip-board) announced herself as jeanette - housekeeping manager I invited her into our room to discuss the embarrassment we had endured and the first thing she said on entering our room was 'whats that smell? has someone been smoking in here? I explained that the wall heater had been turned up high and the smell was dust particles burning, but to conclude this is by far and away the very worst reception that both my family and myself has ever recieved as guest's the utter unprofessionalism shown by the reception staff was in my opinion totally disgraceful, considering that our total bill was £280 for one night's stay I certainly will not be staying here again.......

“A good hotel (for Blackpool)”

Carousel Hotel

Oct 8, 2007

Stayed here during the Tory conference. It's ironic that I had to travel about 3 miles south of Blackpool to find a hotel that was basically acceptable. The Carousel was pretty good (relative to the others I've stayed in) with nice staff, comfortable & clean rooms and a good seafront location. It's even close to the biggest mirror-ball in Europe (it's on a pole on the promenade). At the time of writing, none of the main Political Parties or the TUC are planning to come back to Blackpool & over 260 hotels are up for sale. If some of these could turn themselves into clean and reliable hotels like the Carousel, there may be a future for the resort yet....
