I booked this holiday online. when we arrived the room was ok, but not brilliant There was no heating in the room on the first night. This caused me concern as it was a cold night.
The lift was in a terrible condition and I thought it was going to break down. the bedroom was also filled with dust.
The leisure facilities were not as described. The spa that was advertised was a small section at the top of the swimming pool and we had to push a button at the side of the pool to start the bubbles, also the button was coming away from the wall.
The sauna cost another £3.00 which was not disclosed to us and the temperature did not reach 100oc .
There was hot water the first day but on the second day after we had been to the pool and the spa the water was tepid. I telephoned reception, who were only open until 10pm to tell them that there was no heating, although we mentioned it that morning.
The member of staff who dealt with us was very rude and stated that the room we were in was "boiling" He made this judgement over the telephone.... The member of staff came to feel the temperature of the water and to check the heating. We decided to take another room, which was on the third floor and much better, so for the last night of our holiday we had a comfortable room, although the carpet needed hoovering.
the breakfast was very limited and did not cater very well for vegetarians.
overall this hotel was of disgusting quality and we will not be returning to this hotel again.

I apologise that the guests did not enjoy their stay at the Hotel.
The lift is not in a terrible condition and is serviced monthly, as the hotel is a Victorian Building we are limited to the size and type. A gated lift is the most suitable model for the building; also the lift has never broken down while in service.
The hotels heating is on a timer system which turns on and off throughout the course of day and night, we try and provide a room that is warm yet comfortable, some guests do find their room too hot or too cold, we always try and keep the heating at a medium for all guests. Guests do sometimes turn the room’s radiators off. If it would have been mentioned straight away we could have rectified it straight away. As the hotel was extremely busy during the guests stay the demand for hot water is greater, like all hotels if a guest just waits a couple of minutes the heating system will have produced more hot water.
The leisure facilities feature an Indoor Swimming Pool (which is set to 32oC), Sauna and Turbo Spa; this is stated in all hotel literature, advertising and internet sites. A Turbo Spa is exactly the same as a Jacuzzi put is still part of the swimming pool, thus allowing the guest to just swim away from it. To call it a Jacuzzi it must be a separate unit completely, thus making the guest climb out from one to the other, Both Turbo Spa’s and Jacuzzi’s need a start button to be pressed when in use, ours is fixed firmly on the wall at the side of the Turbo Spa with in easy reach. The £3.00 charge for the Sauna is a standard practise in most hotels, and does reach its full temperature, this normally takes about 15 minutes to reach, perhaps the guest should have allowed some time for the Sauna to reach this, and as the timer system lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes, I can not see a guest staying in that temperature for a whole hour and 15 minutes. We do not advertise that we are a Health Spa or Leisure Club, perhaps the confusion was due to lack of understanding by the guest, or simply misread
Reception closes for check in at 11.30pm each evening not 10.00pm, but a member of staff is available 24 hours a day, and can be reached easily, by either telephone or the reception desk. None of our staff are ever rude, and I apologise if you felt this way
Breakfast does have a wide selection of cereal, yoghurts, fresh fruit and fruit segments to suit vegetarians. As for the cooked breakfast we can do mushrooms, ash browns, sautéed potatoes etc... If the guest had informed a member of staff before ordering, instead of just expecting, we would have done our best to accommodate. Breakfasts in all hotels have a limited selection for vegetarians. Our Chefs would have gladly prepared something had they have known.
Unfortunately when a guest books over the internet we can not guarantee that all requests can be met, Sea View rooms can only be guaranteed through the hotel itself, If we had of been able to met the request of a Sea View room for the guest, I feel this complaint would not of been done, and I am pleased about your final statement about not returning as I feel this is just a bad case of Sour Grapes
We feel the service; facilities and standard of accommodation we provide far exceed our pricing structure, especially when compared to other hotels within the local area.
