“What great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

Fab service, super food and so clean. My favourite place in Blackpool by far. The venue is centrally located, you can sit outside on a fine day. They support the local poetry group and have a book swap scheme too. Can't sing this cafes praises highly enough.

“Good food, good drink, even a touch of poetry.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Located in the town's cafe quarter of Cedar Square, the Number 5 is a pleasant, modern licensed cafe with a reasonably priced menu, freshly made food and a range of teas and other beverages to choose from. And if you visit on the evenings of the first Fridays of the month, you will also get a free show of poetry readings, courtesy of the Lancashire Dead Good Poets Society. And as it is an open mike affair, maybe you will like to scribe your own verse and recite it to the world.

“Writers Must Be Right”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

As well as its daytime trade which I try to provide at least once a fortnight, Cafe No. 5 is the venue once a month (first Friday from roughly 6.00 pm to 8.30 pm for Lancashire Dead Good Poets Society) to hold an Open Mic session allied with its Facebook presence and blog.
The size and layout of the cafe's ground floor lends itself well to a cozy togetherness, and it is very good to see and hear encouragement for trembling novices to experienced "old hands".
As frequent Master of Ceremonies Colin Davies is fond of reminding attendees, Blackpool & the Fylde Coast is not short of talent, and this clean, warm, friendly venue's staff do a terrific job attracting people back time after time - there is even a shelf of books to peruse if you forget to bring reading matter with you & and there is even a resident sketcher on poetry nights.
But you do not need to wait until the next First Friday - next time you are in Blackpool Town Centre, stroll across St. John's Piazza where you will find the deep blue frontage of No. 5 just behind the silver WAVE sculpture - great value for money service in a pleasant venue.

“Always top notch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

The Number 5 is a regular place for me. If ever I'm in Blackpool town centre around lunch time, this establishment is my 1st choice everytime. The food is good, and very reasonably priced.

I'm usually with my partner and our son. You know hoiwbfusdy kids can be, well this liitle lad (6 years old) just adores the fish fingers, chips vand bean, all washed down with a milk shake. He never leaves a scrap.

The staff are really friendly and I've nevervfelt rushed, even at busy times.

There are books scattered around the place that you can just pick up and read if you like.

In a town centre full of multinationals and 'get them through quick' tourist places, it's a real treat to sit in somewhere at feels relaxed.
