Week of 7th - 11th July, 2008.
A carer for a disabled Wife, (Wheelchair user), from Birmingham(UK).
Having only moved house last November 2007 and having had some health troubles for twelve months, we were looking for a break to cheer us up from the strains and worry of events.
Blackpool was chosen as it is flat for a whelchair and has plenty of interesting sights to visit, like the Tower, Zoo and near bye resorts of fleetwood and St Annes.
We looked up sights away from the centre of the town for a more peaceful hotel and found on line what turned out to be a GREAT one in Brincliffe, in Bispham.
For the week it was only £280 for two people with full breakfast and evening meals. We arrived on the Monday and found a ramp for entry to the hotel, and the friendly owners there to meet us, and a welcome cup of tea..
The ground floor room was newly decorated, clean and of a good access size for my wife, and the wheelchair was folded up when not in use, just outside the door. All the towels and bedding was perfect, and we came and went as we pleased.
Breakfast was of a wide range, help yourself to what ever you wished, and plenty of food, I was putting on weight with two eggs, two sausage, bacon, fried bread, tomatoes + all the usually breakfast toasts, etc. And all were cooked well .
The evening meals were prepared by the hotel and were british recipies of fish one night, cottage pie another, pork and apple stuffing ,etc and with potatoes and two veg. All we had in the weeks stay was of a very high standard, and very enjoyable.
Even my wifes food was cut up in the week, when the owners found out that because of her disability, she only had one arm in use. They went out of their way to help and made our week in Blackpool a really nice time.
We will certainly go back to Brincliffe and Blackpool again and we highly recommend this Hotel to others.
David Parker, Birmingham.
