“Great family Hotel In Blackpool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

We have recently come back from a two night stay at the hotel. We found that it very easy to get to and it was clean, comfortable and very modern looking It is situated right next to the pleasure beach which was very handy.
We checked in a family room and it was very spacious and the Girls loved Their own space with the bunk beds.
The main bedroom was large and the bed was Huge and very comfy.
There was hot drinks and biscuits in the room and when we ran out , all we had too do was ask at reception, nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast was good and the bar area nice to relax in.

Stayed here for one night, after a busy day in the Pleasure Beach. We arrived early at 9:45, collected our wristbands from the hotel reception and waited by the hotel pleasure beach entrance until 10am. The hotel has its own pleasure beach entrance that is open 10- 11:30 for guests to get into the park quickly. This was great as we were in the park by 10:05,only then to find that no rides open until 10:30 so seems a bit daft when other park owned hotels let you in the park early when rides are actually running. Anyway, later on, back at the hotel, we had booked a superior family room. It is well layed out with kids bunk bed cubby hole immediately as you open the door, then bathroom, with parents room further along. My 4 & 9 year old loved the bunk beds, double tv's and magnetic snakes & ladders game. Be very careful with these bunks though. They are described as 5ft for kids up to 12. Now my daughter has only just turned 9 and is average height for her age and she only just fit in them! There was also a sofa bed in the parents part of the room but, again, it only looked short. We were lucky to have a pleasure beach facing room but the windows were that filthy and small that our view was limited. Room itself seemed clean enough although we did find an old dirty sock under the sofa bed when we moved it to try to get a better view out of the window! Kids slept brilliantly (having spent all day walking round the pleasure beach!). We did also, once we'd actually got to sleep. There was a loud mechanical noise from outside our window that started about 9pm. Sounded like a lorry engine , then it would rev up louder for about 5 mins, then a loud clunk and it would stop ......only to start again about 15 mins later. By 11:15, we rang reception who said they'd investigate. Noise still there at at midnight.....and 1:15 am, at which point we fell asleep (also probably due to walking all day!). When we checked out the next morning, we were asked if we slept well. When we complained again about the noise, the receptionist didn't seem at all bothered and said...oh we'll, never mind!!!
The actual hotel is nice, a clean and modern oasis in blackpool, but the lack of concern from staff and night time noise would probably put me off staying again .

Stayed here with my mother who is disabled and wheelchair bound. The disabled room was right next to reception which is convenient, but has it's disadvantages (the noise of all the comings and goings). The room is also situated next to the ride, the Big One, but this stops operating at about 10pm. The room itself was spotless and reasonably sized and my mother was able to walk around with her zimmer frame without any difficulty. The only negative thing to mention is that the toilet is situated at a very low height, which I found odd, given that it is for the use of disabled guests. Otherwise there are plenty of grab rails and a nice big walk in disabled shower with seat. The staff were very courteous and helpful and the breakfast (which was the only food we had there) was of very high standard with plenty of choice for everyone. Would consider staying here again.

This was our fifth time staying here in the last ten years. This hotel never fails to impress me. From the reception staff, house keepers, restaurant staff to the management all are so pleasant and helpful, always smiling and willing to help were possible. The standard set in this hotel is very high, the family rooms are perfectly layed out with the children having there own little space within the family room and there own TVs. Breakfast is superb and caters for all your needs, it sets you up for a great day in the pleasure beach adjacent to the hotel. The only place to stay if you are visiting blackpool with your family.

just returned from a three night stay at the big blue, first time away without the children and it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The room was a delux double and was very spacious and comfortable. It was well equiped with tea/coffee facilities, toiletries and tv and dvd equipment as well as hair dryer and iron and ironing board. Although right beside the pleasure beach there was no noise at night which made for a good night's sleep. Breakfast in the morning was very good, with the choice of fruit and yogurt, full fry up and toast and coissants. Bar menu and dinner menu available as well and both were excellent quality although bigger portions at dinner would be good. All staff and management should be congratulated for such a great stay. Really enjoyed it and if I were to go back to Blackpool, would definately stay here again. Well done everyone!!!

Room Tip: ask for a delux room or suite
