“warm and spotlessly clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2009

Lovely hotel right on the seafront. The rooms and public areas were spotlessly clean and as it was very cold outside it was lovely to be cosy and warm inside.
It was nice to find free wi-fi offered to hotel guests in communal areas as so many hotels make exhorbitant charges for this. Although we didnt eat dinner in the hotel the breakfasts were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful

This Hotel is a must, the staff are fab, the room was well decorated and very clean.
It was my partners 50th birthday and everything i asked for was done with a smile.
Phil is the food & beverage Manager and helped make our 2 day stay a special one,he came in early on the morning of my partners birthday to ensure that the champagne breakfast i order to our room went without a hitch, he helped us on that same evening choose some wine and if he was,nt sure about what we asked he found out the answer by other means. Phil worked a long day and still managed to keep smiling.
The following morning at breakfast Phil went onto the internet to get the best route home for us as we had a terrible journey getting to Blackpool, id like to thank Phil for that map as the journey was lovely going home.
I would definatley recommend this Hotel and i will be going back.My partner totally enjoyed his birthday and so did i.
Thankyou to all the staff and a massive thankyou to Phil for helping make a perfect birthday......

stayed for three days in a family room with a sea view ,the room was lovely and clean with a large bright bathroom and even though we had a eight year old making a mess our room was cleaned properly every day even her teddy's were put to bed for her .There is two restuarants one english and one indian we ate twice in the indian and it was no problem if one member of the party wanted english food although my daughter ate two indian meals as the chef was quite happy to tone down the spices for her ,also the resturant was imaculate ,breakfast was good full english plus cereals etc nothing seemed to be a problem .
All the staff are more than helpful and you are made very welcome i had a problem with my laptop and Tina the receptionist spent well over half a hour sorting things out for me ,then my daughter hurt her finger so she got the first aid box out for a plaster little gestures that mean a lot made you feel that they realy cared and weren't just being nice because they had to be,the lounge area is very pleasant and bright would definatley stay here again

Up front: I hated Blackpool, and since this hotel is in Blackpool, I have to hate it a little bit. However, now that that prejudice is out of the way:

Entirely satisfactory. It's at the far, far, FAR end of the beach, so it's a long walk to many attractions, at least 70 minutes to Pleasure Beach for eg. The room was old but clean; breakfast, included in the tariff, was satisfactory; the bar was just a bar thank God no aging crooners forcing Volare down one's throat; and they gave you free wireless internet.

The building is faded and it can be awkward wrestling your suitcase around the narrow staircases, but hey, welcome to Blackpool!

  • Liked — Clean and relatively modern facilities
  • Disliked — It's far away from the beach attractions

Me and partner were off the Blackpool to see a show and the Best Western looked one of the best so we stuck with what we knew. Very clean and smart, hotel staff very friendly and helpful and it has its own car park, which even when we checked out we were allowed to leave the car their to look around for the day. Ideally located near the Winter Gardens, Blackpool tower and the best Arcades (pirate cove) - about a 5-10 minute walk. As it is passed the North Pier it is also ideally located just out the town so it is quieter and not full of all the drunks. The South pier may be abit of a trek (have to say we didn't venture that far) but there is a taxi rank right outside the hotel. The Best Western itself has 2 restraunt, the on being an Indian which is one of the most rated for the Blackpool area. We ate in their and the food was first class and the resteraunt superbly decorated. All in all we had a lovely time in Blackpool, lots to see and do in the day. We decided to not venture out after the show as there are alot of drunken parties in Blackpool!!

Whilst planning a business trip to Lancashire I found the Best Western Carlton Hotel online and was immediately taken by the structure of the website; I called the hotel directly and made a reservation - everything was very straightforward.

Upon arrival we were advised that we had received a free room upgrade; the room was first class and impeccably clean with a sea view and ensuite facilities including a bath - somewhat of a rarity in Blackpool hotels! Fresh towels daily, tea and coffee making facilities, room service and plenty of space - ideal for a business traveller. On our first evening we requested a jug of fresh drinking water: each evening when we returned to our room a fresh jug of water awaited us; a very nice personal touch - unexpected and very welcome!

The hotel food was excellent with a comprehesive menu of hot meals and snacks with room service as an option as well. The hotel also has a wonderful Indian restaurant; the portions were generous and the chef was more than willing to prepare dishes that did not appear on the menu. Definitely the best food in Blackpool and affordable as well. However, the £1.50 "tray charge" for room service is questionable...the majority of other hotels I have stayed in as a business traveller (both in the UK and abroad) do not place a surcharge on room service. The tray charge would not encourage me to avail of room service on future visits.

The staff at the Carlton are super friendly and efficient; requests for stationery, local information, anything at all - staff were always able and willing to assist. I even had a package delivered to the hotel whilst I was there and the receptionist brought it to me as soon as it had arrived!. THAT, is first class customer service!

The Carlton's location is everything; right by the North Pier, it is within walking distance of the Blackpool Tower, etc but sufficiently distanced from the hub of activity to be quiet and relaxing and to ensure that one will not be disturbed by drunken revellers on the streets. Any street noise (though it's unlikely that one would encounter any here) is filtered out by the double glazed windows. The Carlton offers free car parking facilities for residents and there is a tram stop literally outside the door! A corner shop, post office and other amenities are within strolling distance.

All in all, we really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Carlton. However, our room was incredulously warm at all times; thankfully a fan is supplied in all rooms - we made good use of this! But a case in point must be the beds; we found them to be very, VERY hard - they did nothing for my cervical spine injury! This is something that the proprietors may wish to address as a matter of urgency.

I wish to extend my thanks to the hotel's general manager, Peter McClurg for his sincerity and hospitality; having identified our needs as potentially regular customers, he has ensured that on our bi-monthly business trips to the north-west of England we will choose the Best Western Carlton Hotel (Blackpool); we have no need to look elsewhere!

I visited Blackpool to attend a meeting and I needed to stay overnight.

I had originally booked the Travelodge at £65 a night , but cancelled and booked in to the Carlton via Laterooms £50 , inc Breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised , all of the staff made me feel wecolme , the room was nicely furnished - a bit small, but it was a single.

The hotel has two restaurants - one serving British and the other serving Indian - I ate in the Indian restaurant , there were a number of non-residents eating there. The service and quality of the food was excellent.

Breakfast was good ,with the usual choice of juices and cereal through to cooked breakfasts.

Overall , a very nice hotel and I would recommend it.

As for Blackpool - it is looking tired and in need of a facelift.
