I stopped for two nights, friday and saturday. First problem was that I couldn't find a parking space anywhere and had to park 10 minutes walk away, which was quite inconvenient considering how cold it was and the type of people roaming the streets when I arrived at 8pm.
The value would have been okay, but the self-closing door units (they are definetely designed to self close) did not close, they are extremely misleading and both appear and sound like they are definetely shut, all 3 of the people in the room thought the door was shut.
when our room was entered while the three of us were out for dinner on saturday night between 8pm and 11pm, we had a tablet and a laptop stolen from the room. However upon reporting this, the first thing the member of staff did was show us the faulty door and say "was it locked, or was it just like this", we all looked at him blank and then pushed the door open, it was ridiculous that a member of staff knew about this and nothing had been done about it, we were not being stupid.
I checked the rest of the floor and about 1/3 of the rooms had the same problem with doors, I've uploaded a photo of the room next to ours that you can see this in (or probably can't).
Granted, they reported it to the police for us, we had to report it ourselves to get a crime reference number (we weren't sure if the hotel could provide it or the police would have to).
But when asking the hotel for one, and politely telling them that the doors were faulty and they needed looking at, the woman at the front desk raised her voice and told us that we were "antagonising her" and that she wont tolerate this kind of "abuse".
The following morning, we were sitting in the lobby and another elderly couple had their room broken into at midnight while they were asleep, they got no sleep. This is the kind of people staying in this hotel. They have no CCTV on the floors except the reception floor, which I think is absurd for a hotel of this size.
The sleep quality was terrible because the 4th floor had the heating on full the entire time, and due to heat rising which they don't seem to understand, the whole floor was extremely hot and uncomfortable, I slept without a cover both nights, for about 4-5 hours each night, waking up from the heat on several occasions both nights. Not to mention from about 1am-2am a few couples came down the corridor, they weren't talking but the floorboards were very loud and enough to stop someone about to doze off.
The cleanliness was mediocre, we were provided with very limited shower supplies, so only two could shower before running out of shower gel and shampoo, after a long days work away from home we all wanted a shower before going out for dinner on saturday, but I suppose we could have asked, or maybe that would be a little too picky. Hot tap didn't warm up and the heated towel rail didn't work either.
The location was okay, room had a great view of the kind of nutters on the streets of blackpool on a saturday night, watching somebody get bottled was really what I wanted to see...
The rooms I pretty much summed up above, faulty towel rail, faulty hot tap, faulty door, only 3 sockets provided (one used by the tv). In a day and age where most up-to-date phones get charged every night, one socket per person, minus one if you want the TV, isn't really suitable, was constantly having to swap around to charge phone, boil kettle, plug TV in, charge tablet before it got stolen, etc.
Can't comment on breakfast, didn't get given any, bar had limited options but had a drink on Saturday before going out and both service and atmosphere was good, bar staff polite. About the only decent thing the hotel had to offer.
Overall I was pretty disgusted at how they took absolutely no responsibility for what happened despite the faulty doors clearly being an issue (as the rest of the rooms on the door proved).
Save yourself the experience and go elsewhere.

Dear John B, thank you for posting your comment on Tripadvisor, although I'm sorry that you felt the need to do this. We are very lucky that incidents like this are few and far between, and I'm so sorry that you have been targeted in such a way. John, I personally had all of the rooms checked on my return on Monday and can honestly say there were only 2 doors in the whole hotel which did not completely slam shut, these of course now do. I'm embarrassed that you felt the incident was not handled with sympathy and integrity as indeed when I came in on Monday, the team were actively doing additional security patrols and each department had held their own team meeting about security. I will take the liberty of responding to you personally, and will do all I can to help you recover your loss. With kind regards, Alison
