We just wanted to say we had a wonderful stay at the Rutland Hotel, Kay and Adrian were really welcoming and helpful. Despite a few things (which is why we didn't mark it 5) we definitely would stay again and would recommend this hotel for families with children and teenagers!
We made a last minute booking of a large group of family and friends, the rates (especially during the illuminations) were not overpriced (unlike others) but were spot on!
Kay offered a warm welcome and went through everything with us when we arrived. She made every effort to make sure our stay was comfortable by making arrangements before we arrived and changing an unsuitable room when we arrived!!
I have stayed in many hotels around the world as I travel for my job, the rooms were comfortable and had everything you would come to expect from a B&B. Maybe the room decor was a little dated - that's a personal preference and is not to put anyone off, but they were exceptionally clean and well maintained! (We had four rooms)
The breakfast was really nice and they catered well for children by asking them what they like! It's very hard to find accommodation which makes an effort to look after the younger guests, but when it does it makes a difference!
What's great about the location is it's not to far to get to central Blackpool, you can easily get their in 20-30mins walking, or their is a tram stop across the road!
Car Parking: If you can find a space around the front of the hotel, or the street by the side you will be fine. If not the Hilton Hotel is only a few steps away with a car park which has very very reasonable prices. £5.00 for the first 24hrs, then £2.50 each 24 hours after! (Bargain - especially for a Hilton)
The only things that did put us off were the signs everywhere, don't do this, don't do that. It was pretty overwhelming. All rooms had an en-suite and in every room that had a bath their was a sign saying Bath Not In Use - until further notice. I understand hotels must provide safety warnings but their was a little too many.
The baths were perfectly fine and hot water was coming through the taps so we could not understand the reasons for this.
The bar was a spacious area over-looking the promenade. Fitted with a pool table and with a great selection of drinks we had everything we needed. It gets a bit warm in the bar but the fans were not allowed to be switched on?
We also came to the bar to watch X Factor and a bit of Saturday night TV! I know - a bit boring but we came to get the family and our friends together and relax for a few days. The bar only had another family in and they were all playing cards in the corner. The Bar Maid had been given strict instructions that the TV was to be turned off after X Factor?!
When it came to paying we were only allowed to use a single card to make payment due to bank charges. I run my own business and understand about charges but for the sake of £2-£4 (total) it was not very customer orientated.
Apart from this it was a great weekend, we had a wonderful stay and would go again!
