After reading all the reviews on here, i was expecting a very pleasant stay here, and was very disapointed.
Firstly at time of booking i explained we would not arrive until between 9 and 10pm, upon arriving at 9.30pm, it was clear we was not expected by the one member of staff who was working behind the bar. He directed us to the wrong floor, and we was left wondering around with our cases trying to find our room. Also he was unable to direct us to the car park, or even show us on a map where we were, and how to get to the car park.
The family room, while clean, was very very small, the 3/4 bed was tight to a wall, and only a small gap to the single bed against the other wall. Both beds were extremely uncomfy and the matresses were worn out and lumpy.
The bathroom was even smaller, and the toilet was 2 inches from the wall on one side, and 2" from the bath on the other. There was also only one stall and one chair, so when in the room, we had to sit on the bed.
While as stated on here there is plenty of choice for breakfast, the quality was very poor, the bacon was just a fatty piece of streaky bacon, the sausage gross, and the beans were the worst i've tasted. It was so poor, i didn't even go to breakfast on the second day, and when the waiter asked my wife where i was, and then told why i hadn't gone down, just shrugged his shoulders and walked off.
Finally when i went to check out at 10.15am on sunday morning, there was no one at the desk, and after waiting 10 minutes and ringing the bell 3 times, i just left the key and departed.
The welcome friendly service as stated on here, clearly did not exist the weekend we visited, and while i would say this is not the worst hotel i have ever stayed, in certainly was not a good one, and we will not be returning again.
