“Good Week End”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

had a pleasant week end in blackpool at the Colris Hotel, location perfect. Found staff very helpful. Breakfast good. there were some minor things but we enjoyed ourselves and the staff very friendly towards granddaughter (2)

In summary would have no hesitation in going back next year. If you want the 5 star facility go somewhere else but for the price we paid I feel it was well worth it.

Looking at recent reviews I think their writing about a different hotel. The rooms were terrible, badly in need of redecorating and the furniture and carpets replaced. Bathrooms need special attention. The food was just passable, I have eaten better in backstreet cafe's. The one good thing to say is that the staff were friendly and presentable and Mel the manageress could not do enough for you. The bar prices were reasonable too.
Hopefully it can be updated when the season ends, if not it wants shutting down.

Room Tip: If there is one that has been well decorated good luck

Nothing is too much trouble for the team here. Food exceptional and great portion size. Service in the resturant is very quick. The deserts are to die for. Already booked for next year.
Slight problem with the first room when arrived but quickly fixed. Just one thing please fix the TV.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights from 20th August 2012. My wife and I took our 2 children who also thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room could of done with a lick of paint here and there and to their credit, we noticed that the painters were in and painting some of the empty rooms. Mel and Ray made us all feel welcome and the atmosphere between all the guests was great and always someone to chat to in the main bar tv room.
The breakfasts were superb and I meant to ask how they did there fried eggs so perfectly but forgot to ask. There is no parking, but if you keep going around the block, eventually a space will appear and you can park there free all week.
There is a bus stop and tram stop just outside the door which makes life easy if you don't fancy walking. We walked most of the time and walked to the pleasure beach in 15 minutes and the town in ten minutes. The hotel is situated in between the south pier and central pier, both of which have family bars and put on daily entertainment for the kids.
We will definitely be returning again next year and we think it's well worth the 400 mile round trip from our home.

Stayed over the weekend. The Colris is ideally placed on the sea front and has the advantage that there is a tram stop directly opposite the hotel. As I have found with many hotels in Blackpool it is a little datedbut no more than most. What set this hotel apart is its excellent staff, especially the manageress who really made a lasting impression on us. We did have a problem with the suitability of our room on arrival but found the manageress helpful and accomodating and her help changed our opinion of the hotel completely. If you are looking for 5 star luxury then this isn't the hotel for you, but if you are looking for a hotel that is welcoming to young and old, isn't overpriced and had great staff you could do a lot worse.

Dear Guests,
Thank you so much for your great review. I am glad that we were able to sort out the problems you had on arrival. Many times guests don't speak up until it's too late and that's disappointing for us as we want every single guest to enjoy themselves. We hope that you will visit us again, and hopefully you will see even more improvements to our Hotel.

Thanks again, from Mel and all the staff at The Colris Hotel
