Fawlty Towers has nothing on this place! I travelled with 10 other girls for a girly weekend. When ringing round, most hotels were booked up, but this had plenty of spaces - we soon found out why! Having to park 2 streets away wasn't a good start and it went rapidly downhill from there. We were put in 3 family rooms - 2 of which had a double bed and bunkbeds. I think the bunkbeds were there to provide the entertainment later on as we were in Blackpool to celebrate a 40th birthday, so most of us were around that age and out for a night on the lash! Other than the beds in the room, there was very little carpet space. A sink and tea-making equipment and very small wardrobe completed the furnishings. The showers were on the landing but no towels were provided until we asked for some! The toilets (with ill fitting doors that you had to slam shut in order to lock them) were at the end of the landing but no sinks or towels in there so we had to go back to our rooms to wash our hands. The girls that were unfortunate enough to get the room next to the toilets were constantly disturbed by people slamming the toilet doors shut. After we'd finished laughing, we uncorked a bottle of wine and attempted to get ready to go out - sharing the one plug socket in the room between hair dryer, straighteners and travel iron and dancing around each other in the limited space available! The rooms are not self-locking, so after a night out we had to try and remember to lock them - we failed, which could have been a hive for robbers during the night after we'd all passed out!
Breakfast - OMG laugh out loud. I'm not even going to begin to explain the ordeal we went through, but long and short of it was that we went down for breakfast at 9am and didn't get any food or drink until 10.15. We had to beg for a drink of juice whilst we were waiting as the landlord couldn't cope and was very rude when we kept asking how long it would be before we got fed. He openly admitted afterwards that he wanted to serve us as a group, so waited until everyone else had come and gone before concentrating on us! Absolutely awful service. Would I recommend the waters edge hotel to a friend? Not if I valued their friendship! We were happy to wave goodbye to Fawlty Towers, even though it has provided us with plenty of memories for years to come - bad memories! Good points? The hotel was clean.
