Having just returned from a two day , one night trip to Blackpool I thought it would be helpful to share our experience of this hotel.I have been to Blackpool several times over the years varying from been taken as a child, then to three different trips "with the lads" including two stag weekends, and also with my partner and two children.
Its all too easy to give an over-rated description to "sell " your hotel /BB over the telephone but the internet has many advantages and disadvantages. If the place has a website then thers a good chance it will include photographs and if it includes photographs then your hosts are keen to show you exactly what they have on offer.Dont be fooled - I was last year !
As the title states what you see is what you get at The Charlton Hotel - and a bit more. I am one of the worlds greatest critics and after a bad experience last year I was slightly more cautious this time.Since we were taking two children ( aged 12 & 13 ) with us I was looking for some where which could cater for them as well as us, and to be honest I found The Charlton Hotel accidently whilst looking for somewhere with a pool table !!!
After a cautious scan through their website a quick call was all that was required to secure a one night stay. I could probably write pages to read but to keep things simple - we arrived at 1.30pm and as the hotel only has limited parking ( which we were told about over the telephone ) we were advised of a parking area less then 3 mins away ( 3 mins walking ) and this had ample spaces & cctv. Staff were very busy as 42 previous guests had not long since left but nevertheless our room was ready for 2 pm as promised. Before going to our room the host - Kim took time to sit with us and explain fully, everything required for our stay. We found this very helpful. Our room contained a double bed, bunkbeds and a junior bed which was in readiness for another family after us - and there was still plenty of room, and the heating worked !!
All the beds were immaculate and as comfortable as any we have slept in at hotels numerous times more expensive. The bar area was very impressive with an eating lounge overlooking the promenade, a relaxed ample sized bar area ( bar with beer / lager on tap - and cold ) a lounge area with seating, tv, pool table and video / arcade games, and finally a stage to the rear for the entertainment. Staff were always well presented, friendly and polite, but never intrusive. Breakfast was as descibed - worth waiting for ! For an establishment of its size we were most impressed by the menu which is constantly available and could put a lot of bigger names to shame. Please remember where you are going - Its Blackpool, - a seaside resort. I try never to compare a place because they are all different in their own way. Please believe me, i'm not easily pleased, but because this hotel was exactly how it was described on it's website - and some - so therefore I cannot say a word against it. In future we can save a lot of searching because this would be the only place we will return to. Thank You. Ps , if anyone has had the need to give a negative review of this hotel I would invite them to contact me as I fear there must be another Blackpool !!!!!
