“Another Excellent Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Just returned from our 3rd stay at Hawksmoor, another excellent stay. Family room is the best we have ever stayed in, lots of room and excellent facilities. Phillipa and Trevor are great hosts. Coffee and biscuits on arrival are always a nice welcome. Breakfast is fantastic especially the eggs benedict. Will be back again in 2013.

Room Tip: Family room is great as it is on the lower floor.

This was our third visit to The Hawksmoor and in certainly won't be our last. we were made as welcome as always- coffee and home made biscuits made up for the rain! The room (Room 7) was clean, warm and welcoming- the view over the woods so beautiful. The Fellwalkers breakfast sets you up for the day. We tell everyone about the Hawksmoor and will return next year. Thank you to Philippa and her great staff.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back overlooking the woods are probably quieter.

An excellent location, in between Windermere and Bowness. Only a 10 minute walk down to the lake and town, which was perfect as we could leave the car in the private guest house car park.

We were welcomed by Phillipa who offered us drinks on arrival and spent two nights in Room 1. The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, TV-DVD, tea making facilities and ensuite bathroom. It was very clean with pleasant decor. Wi-fi was also available and easy to connect to although I did not have very good mobile phone signal.

We found all the staff friendly and welcoming, offering vlauable advice where possible and a lovely collection of DVDs. Breakfast was delicious on both occassions, there was a good selection of pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fruit juices along with hot drinks and food to order. Our eggs benedict and scrambbled eggs with smoked salmon were cooked to perfection.

Overall a wonderful stay and will definitely be staying again.

Room Tip: Room 1 does look out onto the main Lake road and so you can hear some cars driving past but being fr...

Another wonderful few days in the Lake District staying at the Hawksmoor guest house, a really nice place to stay, you are always made to feel welcome, everything is just as you would want it.
We stayed in room 14 again and find it perfect.
We will be going back.

This is the very first B & B we've ever stayed in and we loved it. We usually stay in expensive hotels and hardly use the facillities available. (Hubby is spoilt by hotel stopovers while working away.) This place provided service on a par, or even better than some of the hotels we've visited.
We were warmly welcomed, and made to feel at home by Trevor and Philippa with tea and home made biscuits. We told them what we wanted to see and do during our stay and they made efforts to ensure we did it. Tour? A leaflet was produced and an offer to call and book it on our behalf made Nothing was a problem or effort. Good service is not hard to find here. All staff are very friendly, efficient and helpful.
Trevor gave us a tour to show us the facilities. A fire safety talk, to ensure we knew what to do in an emergency, was very welcome. We booked room 5. Primarily because of a bad experience in a previous hotel stay. (We wanted their quietest room.) Peace and quiet in the Lakes at last!
The room is on the small size, as it's advertised, but not so small you can't move comfortably. Next time we'd probably go for a bigger room, now we know they don't have noisy wedding guests!
The room was very nice and quiet. The bed provided us with a very good nights sleep. The hotel is within easy walking distance of both towns. We walked to both of them, several times, without a problem.
Breakfast. Lots to choose from. Check out their web site for the menu. The eggs benedict were absolutely delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his full fellwalkers breakfast on both mornings. Good, freshly cooked food. An excellent start to the day.
Trevor made a point of saying goodbye to us as he was leaving to attend a family wedding and we would not see him again during our stay. A nice, friendly couple who obviously try to provide the best for each and every guest during their stay here.
The only down side to this place is, it's so good you may have trouble booking the room you want when you want it! Book early. Everybody loves it and what's not to love?

Room Tip: Room 5 is on the small size but you don't hear any other guests coming or going. A view of woods...

Stayed October 23rd for two nights in room 12. Beautiful room with everything you could need. Extremely well thought out layout, sockets and lights switches in just the right place. Wonderful balcony that overlooked a babbling brook. Absolutely nothing to fault. One of the nicest thing about the Hawksmoor guest house (and there is plenty of other things) is that you are made to feel wanted from the minute you arrive (unlike some guest houses that make you feel like an inconvenience). Phillipa was fantastic from the minute we arrived greeting us with a pot of tea and biscuits and showing us around are room. The breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice. The weather was kind to us and we made the most of it but I couldn't wait to get back at the end of the day and sit out on the balcony with a drink and then have a nice soak in the luxurious bathroom and get into bed, the best nights sleep and the most comfortable Ive had in a long time. Cant wait to go back to the Lakes and stay here again

Room Tip: Room 12 fantastic but from what ive seen am sure all the rooms are.
