“Charming!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here for a long weekend at the start of October. The hotel is charming, very cosy and welcoming but with a high standard! We were warmly welcomed by Nick after a much longer drive drown to the Lakes than I remembered - the pot of tea and home made lemon drizzle cake went down a treat! The hotel is literally round the corner from a huge range of lovely resturants, pubs and quaint shops - perfect! We walked down to Bo'ness - about half an hours stroll and took the boat to Ambleside - a nice day out, we even remembered to pinch a bit of left over toast from breakfast to feed the ducks! The breakfast is cooked as you order it, so it takes a bit longer to arrive, but worth waiting for - much better than a dried up buffet! Refills of coffee, tea and toast flowed freely. I would definitely recommend this lovely hotel to anyone - service, attention to detail and location are spot on! And having he only room with a bath was a real treat!

Thank you so much for your review, we are delighted you had such an enjoyable stay. After our full refurbishment we now only have the one room that has a bath with a shower above it, all of the others are showers only. It is always welcoming to receive such a complimentary review and we appreciate you taking the time to do so. We look forward to seeing you both again soon. Best Regards, Nick & Cheryl

The hotel as a whole was perfect! The location couldn't have been any better for everything we needed, the room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast on both mornings was cooked fresh to order and was delicious! The bacon was the best part, it was so thick it was like gammon :) we used a living social deal which had bike hire included. A perfect but tiring way to see a lot more of the lakes. Nick and Cheryl were so inviting and very helpful! They explained everything to us and made us feel very comfortable :) we will definitely be going back at some point!! Thanks again!

The Ravensworth is a stones throw away from the Windermere station and within walking distance of the main street and many other interesting places.
Added to this you have a clean room, excellent bathroom and first class breakfast.
We spent four nights in Windermere and I would gladly go back. I can thoroughly recommend
The Ravensworth to anyone interested in travelling to the lakes district.
Well done Nick and Cheryl.

Room Tip: We took the annexe room as it has a small outdoor area which we found appealing.

I've stayed in this hotel with couple of friends for 2 nights and was accomodated in very cosy, private and clean room. Very pleased with WiFi and selections of movies. My biggest highlight of first breakfast was that I found choice of a gluten free cereals!!! Wow!!! Very thoughtful for people like me- I did not put a special request beforehand. Well done to Cheryl and Nick for that personal touch!!! Already recommended this place to stay to couple of friends who plan to visit Cumbria soon.

What a lovely place. We had two nights at the Ravensworth and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nick welcomed us on arrival and was very thorough with what was available. The whole house is very clean and welcoming. We had a lovely comfortable en - suite room, which was spotless. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice and the girls serving were lovely. It is in a great position for Windermere town centre. Can't fault this lovely place and will recommend to friends and family. Hope to visit again sometime.

Lovely friendly welcome with a tour of the house and an offer of a hot drink. We arrived earlier than expected but this was no problem.

Large comfortable annex room, with tea/coffee/biscuits/chocolates, a modern clean bathroom, wifi throughout and a relaxing lounge with pc and tourist information leaflets.

Ideally situated for a short stroll to Windermere village - lake a little further walk.

Breakfast was lovely and girl serving very friendly. Would definitely go back. Thanks for a lovely stay.
