“Good all-rounder!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

We stayed for one night at The Glenburn, got a good offer of B&B and Dinner. Got the lst rrom available as we booked late. the location is ideal - an easy 5min walk up to Windermere or a 5-10min walk down to Bowness. The rooms; modern decor, okay size, good ensuite size, the dining room and bar/ seating area is ample. Teh breakfast and eveing meal was nice and hearty. We found the Glenburn friendly, comfortable and value for money!

Room Tip: Free access to Parklands Leisure centre if you stay here too!

The hotel is in a good location between Windermere and Bowness.
Room was comfortable and clean but a lack of natural light gave
it the appearance of being "faded".The staff were all very friendly
and helpful. We only had breakfast at the hotel and that was first
class.Would use the hotel again because of the good points but
being objective I think it could do with a bit of TLC.

It was our first trip to Lake District and we were not sure of any good place to stay. We found this Hotel's name in one of the sites and booked for a room. I think it was sheer luck we got the booking confirmed. The Hotel is very good with its accomodation, room services and other facilities, but their hospitality to their guests is brilliant and we would surely love to go back again to stay. The food was freshly made, which gave a very home like feeling. Right from the Breakfast to Dinner, a myriad of options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians, the food is delectable. Being an Indian, we relished the indian preparation in partiucular which surprised us , for being made superbly in a british kitchen, is an achievement. The ambience is neat and very clean. The people attending to us were very pleasant and friendly.

Other surrounding places to visit are very closely and well connected form this hotel. Even if you dont have a car u can easily take a stroll down the road to have a variety of eating joints andplenty of coffee shops while taking a good view of the windermere lake. Even other places like Beatrix potter's Museum and Dove cottage etc. are very close by.

Would be our solid reccomendation. :):)

My husband and I stayed at the Glenburn recently for a wedding in Windermere. We found the room tiny but comfortable, clean and organised. Our bed offered us several nights of good sleep. The staff were welcoming and pleasant, ensuring we knew how to walk to Bowness and what would be good to visit there. When we needed transportation they were there to accommodate and when we needed a celebratory drink before heading out to the wedding they opened the bar for us so we could toast to the lucky couple. The breakfast was filling and tasty and the dining staff efficient! If you would like a reasonably priced hotel within the Lake District that is welcoming and happy that you are staying with them then visit the Glenburn!!!!!!

My partner and I have just returned from our 2 night stay at this hotel under the 'Romantic Break' offer (which is a fabulous deal in itself!). I can't express enough how much we enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in a Deluxe four-poster room with spa bath - comfortable, clean and relaxing. Champagne and strawberries on arrival and a 3 course meal one evening; absolutely fantastic. The breakfast was beautiful; lots of choice. The waitresses were attentive, polite and efficient. Well stocked bar and comfortable lounge. The price also included a cruise on Windermere which we loved.

I read some 'Terrible' reviews for this hotel and was concerned I would be disappointed despite the abundance of 'Excellent' reviews. From a background of running hotels and restaurants myself I have quite high standards of accommodation but honestly found no fault with anything. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and hopefully will return in the future. Thank you for a lovely stay, Glenburn!

I didn't even get to go and see if the reviews are correct for this hotel. I have been looking for a nice Christmas break for me and my partner and our baby who will be 8 months old by Christmas. We want to return to Windermere as we found the place so relaxing the last time we visited. I was searching online and found what looked like a nice hotel at a reasonable price for the Christmas package. Feeling like i had found the place to spend my baby's first Christmas i called to book a room to be told by the owner that she will not allow baby's to stay there over Christmas. Real nice, made me feel quite bad actually, that we will be refused because of our baby, who doesn't scream and is a very calm baby. So I'll find somewhere more hospitable.

Room Tip: Dont, they dont treat everyone fairly.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you feel discriminated. This is my fifth Xmas at the Glenburn and every year we have a 3 night Special Xmas Package and we do not accept children. This is for adults only who wish to come away for a quiet relaxing break . There are many hotels and guest houses in the Lake District and other places who do not accept children anytime. Here at the Glenburn we have 2 family rooms and accept children 359 days of the year.
