“Peacefully perfect with a warm welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2010

A warm welcome greeted us at The Howbeck into a beautiful elegant cozy room where my husband and I who work long ours with our businesses were able to finally escape the hamster wheel of work and life for a couple of days. The extra touches make all the difference and the service was better than that we have received in Monte Carlo in recent visits especially the chocolates left on our bed which were very welcome. We are already looking at our scedhules to see if we can escape later in the year.ps Breakfast was lovely too!

Me and my finacee stayed at The Howbeck for 1 Saturday night recently as we were attending a wedding reception nearby. The hotel is in a great location, right in Windermere and only a 5 minute drive to Bowness. The receptionist was very welcoming on check in. The room was very cosy and homely with a flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits. The bathroom was very clean, modern and had sleek fixtures and fittings. The bed was quite large and very comfortable.
The only slight gripe I had with our stay is that we were woken up at about 7am by staff who were obviously setting up for breakfast, this noise continued until 8.30am. This was due to the fact that our bedroom (Lowthwaite) was on the ground floor near to the kitchen and breakfast room. In future I would make sure I had a room upstairs. Breakfast was fab, great selection and quality. We had a full english but there was lots of other things to choose from. The waiting staff at breakfast were excellent. The only other thing that I found annoying was that check out was at 10am - rather early for my liking, so once we had finished breakfast at 9.30 it was a rush to pack and check out, we would have liked a bit more time to relax and take our time. (I'm not a morning person!) but having said that it did not ruin our stay and it is a great hotel that we will hopefully visit again soon.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such lovely comments about your recent stay with us at the Howbeck. We want to make every stay perfect for all our guests and I can see you were happy with almost every aspect of your stay. We also appreciate the feedback you have given regarding noise in the morning and our staff have noted this, they do try an prepare most things for breakfast the evening before but we will try harder in future. With regards to check out, as we are a small boutique hotel and check in is 2.30pm, we have to make sure we have enough time to ensure every room is perfect for the next guests, however we do allow late check out if possible and guests can request this with reception.
Thank you again.
Kind regards
Rachel

Recently stayed at The Howbeck with my husband. It's a great little hotel with excellent staff - especially Roberta who seems to be there all the time. Room was nic (Greenburn) overlooking the front of the building and can get a little noisy early in the morning with the traffic passing by - but then I am a light sleeper. Had a super bathroom with excellent large spa bath and over head shower. Some nice little touches throughout the hotel.
Breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of items to suit everyone.
Nice bar/lounge where you can relax and enjoy a drink/coffee.
Good car parking facilities provided free of charge.
Enjoyable stay and would return again.

My wife and I had a few days in the Keswick Suite as a birthday treat. Fantastic room. Fantastic breakfast. On arrival we checked in and were blown away with the room. Every aspect of the room was faultless. The hotel location is within walking distance of an array of restaurants. We dined at the Lighthouse and Giotto both of which we would recommend, and would visit again. The rooms are quite expensive but the old saying "you get what you pay for" rings true. We would visit again without question.

From the moment you arrive at the Windermere Suites until you reluctantly have to depart you are transported into a luxurious surrounding. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary not that the staff knew that until we departed, but the whole experience will live with us for the rest of our lives. The breakfast was exceptional and appeared that every item had been cooked fresh and arrived hot at the door on the time of your choosing. The room itself was excellent, so clean, comfortable and the bathroom was pure luxury and very hard to tear yourself away. The area surrounding the hotel is very pleasant and either end of the road are plenty of restaurants, shops etc. We arrived by train followed the directions given to us by the hotel and we were there within 15 minutes. The staff were very helpful, very pleasant and always smiling, it felt like no request was too much, this made our stay even more special.

My wife and I stayed at the howbeck on the 6th August for two nights for our wedding anniversary,The hotel is in a great location, a two minute walk from Windermere centre and a fifteen minute walk to the centre of Bowness. On arrival the staff were friendly and helpful. They showed us around, then took our bags to our room for us whilst we enjoyed a much needed pot of coffee in the lounge after a long drive. The room was lovely and beautifully prepared with rose petals, champagne and chocolates. The four poster bed was extremely comfortable and made up with good quality linen. The bathroom complete with spa bath big enough for two,was complemented by thick fluffy bath sheets and bath robes.
The staff always had a smile and were always very cheerful. If you need anything just ask and they are willing to help. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide variety to choose from, whether it be full English, Eggs Benedict(which we can recommend)or choice of cereals, fruit, cold meats etc.
We would recommend The Howbeck to anyone wanting a relaxing, short break away in luxurious accomodation.
