“A real home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights from December 14th and would certainly book again. My single room was small but cosy, with an extremely comfortable bed and lots of treats which were replenished each day. The reception rooms were very much in keeping with the house. High quality linen and towels, 4 star breakfast and a very warm welcome made this a very pleasant stay. My thanks go to Anthony, who arranged a mountain goat (mini bus) tour for me on the Saturday and also had many suggestions for places to visit/eat etc. All in all, a memorable stay in a well cared for establishment.

Hi NannyBeach and thank you so much for taking the time to post a review - always appreciated and especially so when they are so positive! I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us - I am very aware that we are a primarily a Bed + Breakfast establishment, so my main priorities are to ensure our guests get a good night's sleep and an excellent breakfast and sounds like we succeeded with you! I'm also glad my suggestions were useful as I think this is the other element that B+B's should be able to provide, good local knowledge and advice! Thanks again for the review, and we look forward to welcoming you back here in the not too distant future. All the best, Anthony

Hello Magster300, thank you so much for your review. I'm delighted to hear you really enjoyed your time here. I love the Lake District and I want anyone who visits here to obviously enjoy the Willowsmere, but just as important is helping guests to get the most out of their trip and to really enjoy the area. I actually really like being asked for advice on things to do because (like most people!) I love talking about things I love! A word of advice though, if you want to see the Lake District don't get me talking about Bob Dylan! All the best, Anthony

This place is a great place to stay if you are looking to be based in a town in the Lake District.

Anthony was extremely helpful and suggested some really nice scenic drives and a lovely pub called The Queens Head, be sure to check it out for a quality meal if you head out there.

We only spent a weekend there but felt like we saw quite abit on the road for such a short trip.

Highly recommended if you want a nice place to stay for a decent price.

Hello hellojoe3 and thank you so much for taking the time to post a review - I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay here. I have always thought the main reason to chose a B+B rather than a hotel is friendliness you hope to find in a B+B and the local advice you should be able to get, so I'm delighted you appreciated this. I hope next time to visit the area we'll be seeing back at The Willowsmere. All the best, Anthony

The Willowsmere was a great choice for our family get-together weekend. Warm welcome, clean cosy room, toasty comfy bed and great breakfasts made our stay ideal. Great central location for visiting the Lake District tourist spots, easy to drive to and with a capacious car park too. Town centre shops and restaurants all within easy walking distance. Anthony went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable and we have no hesitation in highly recommending The Willowsmere to everyone who's visiting the area and seeking a convenient base for their explorations. A great friendly B&B, we send many thanks to Anthony!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Willowsmere, we were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed a relaxing break.
The Guest House was in a good location, only a few minuets walk from Windermere, easy to find and had ample parking spaces
On arrival Anthony (the owner) spent time with us suggesting walks and places for us to visit. He also provided useful recommendations on where to eat. Our room had lots of character and was very comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent with very good friendly service and ample of choices to suit every ones tastes
I would strongly recommend this Guesthouse to anyone wanting to visit the Lake District

We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast in October. I always look for somewhere traditional and with character when I stay in the lakes and I was not disappointed, the building was very original , the gardens beautiful and the rooms were very spacious, much better than I expect from a b&b. There was also lots of parking, enough for a car club to visit if they wanted! The host Anthony welcomed us with a drink and took lots of time to explain the best walks, restaurants and pubs close by... Thanks for the tip on the Thai Anthony, it was lovely! All the staff couldn't have been more friendly and Anthony as a host surpassed our expectations. I also loved the minibar, there was a choice of more than 10 local beers and Anthony also has a fantastic collection of whiskys, ideal for a nightcap! All in all, I couldn't have been more pleased, everything was perfect and the price was fantastic too. I will definitely be coming back, get the kettle on....

Room Tip: We had friends staying and I have to say that all of the rooms were lovely, but there are several lo...
