“Nice for a Night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Myself and my wife stayed here last friday night for one night, we had read about the parking here being a bit tight but found no problems we checked in about 4 pm and were given room number 8. the room was small but had storage a large tv and sink with a garden view to the rear of the property. The bathroom was quite a way from this particular room over the landing down a couple of stairs up a couple and along another landing. not ideal if you have problems through the night bladder wise or scared of the night!!! though we didnt find it too much of a problem being there for one night only. The bathroom for it being a shared one was a decent size and nice and clean. though the robes we had arent all that man sized! We headed own to the bar on what was a terrific lakes evening, i sampled a couple of the real ales, one of these and a pint of lager an lime cost me £7. so not cheap but a very nice sup here. The bed was comfy and the sheets clean. Breakfast the next morning is served down in a cut off part of the bar bewtween 9am and 10am, we got down for spot on 9am and got a decent table (not ontop of any others) its a bit tight in places. service was swift and efficient, the breakfast was nicely cooked and very tasty. In all it was a nice stay. Smack bang in the middle of bowness but just far enough form all the razzmatazz. one of the good things about this place is unlike most b&b's house style, you can book single nights here.

We have just returned from staying the weekend at the royal oak, The staff were very friendly and helpfull breakfast was really nice. I booked the room as a last minute get away on line with Booking.com the room was discribed as a superior double room which cost £90.00 a night. Marking it out of 10, 9/10 for cleaness 6/10 for the size of the room overall 7/10 there was no towel rail in the bathroom, towels had to be left on the small radiator, bath and the hand towels on the toilet cistern. I think £70.00 - £75.00 is a more like the price for this room, would we stay again? yes but would not book a superior room again

I cannot comment on the food or accommodation. Popped in for a swift pint. I was the only person at the bar and waited over five minutes before someone appeared to serve me. When he appeared he was friendly enough. If you're going to stay here be warned that parking could be an issue, with only about 5 or 6 spaces directly outside the front of the pub. Free wifi.

Stayed here for 2 nights with friends 5&6th April and had a great time. The location was fab and parking on site was so convenient. We just left the car keys for the staff to shuffle the car round as required and forgot about it until we came to leave. The rooms are on the small side but very clean and comfortable. The shower was very good with plenty of hot water. The staff were very friendly and accomodating even allowing us to book out on the Sunday but leave the car for an extra 3 and a half hours whilst we played golf and had lunch! Overall we agreed that we would definitely stay here again!

My hubby & I have just spent a week-end at this hotel; staff were very helpful & friendly, breakfast was fantastic (plenty of it), we stayed in room 2, could see the lake from our window, bed very large & comfy, room clean & warm, en-suite clean with big fluffy white towels, all in all it was very quaint, cosy & relaxing. We thought good value for money taking into account the location; only a 5 minute walk away from Lake, shops & pubs. The only negatives we had was the car park was quite tight & the evening meal we had was awful; on the second night we ate at the Spinnery restraunt next door, which was a lovely meal & didn't cost much more than the Royal Oak. We are looking forward to returning to the Royal oak for another break.

My Partner and I stayed for one night in one of the four poster room. It was lovely brilliant setting, clean warm room, lovely bathroom and great views. The hotel it's self was very cosy and welcoming. The food was to die for. Honestly one day here and it felt like a weeks holiday it was so relaxing. We are already trying to find the time to go back. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the lakes, or to anyone wanting to get away for a short break. Big thank you to all the staff!
