“Budget Family Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

2 adults plus a 7 year old and a 3 year old needed to stay in Windermere for the weekend. Many B&B there will not take children but we found this. It's located in a quiet cul-de-sac, walking/buggy distance to the centre though, and very near a large park with playground.

Warm welcome, parking often available and good advice on how to park when restrictions are in place. We had a spotless family room (2) with a double and a bunk bed. Quiet, warm, good en-suite shower and helpful family running it.

Nice breakfasts and lots of flexibility for fussy eaters, a basic sort of stay but just the ticket if you don't want breakable ornaments and expensive wallpaper. We will use it again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2012

We stayed two nights (family of three) at Greenriggs. It is an excellent location just a couple of blocks to the town centre and 15-minute stroll to the lake. The weather was atrocious while we there with storms and flooding closing roads but the accommodation was pretty comfortable. The only criticism really was the room size, which was cramped for three, and a lack of storage space - no wardrobe. That said the beds were comfortable and the room clean and quiet. The standard B&B breakfasts were very tasty. Fine for a night or two but perhaps a bit claustrophobic if you were staying in the area longer. Windermere is beautiful even when it was as wet as when we stayed....

This lovely B & B is perfect for a no frills stay in Windermere. The owner is very hospitable and gives his own personal touch.. He cooked us a lovely full English breakfast with cereals, toast and drinks, all included in the very modest price- We had a triple room for 2 of us (due to availability) and paid £64 for the night. The rooms are nice, well kept and the shower was very powerful! Towels, tea and coffee and TC with Freeview in the room- perfect for a rainy day in the Lake District! Free parking and WiFi available too. WOW.. I cannot fault this B&B, highly recommended.

A lovely stay in Windermere. Couldn't fault the location, cleanliness or service at Greenriggs but unfortunately found our room too small. We were staying in a family room and our party consisted of 3 adults and a toddler. It was difficult to move around the room with the all 3 of us and the toddler's bed - she was too small to sleep in a bunk bed (which creaked everytime I rolled over). It wasn't such a problem as we were only using it as a base whilst exploring the area and we spent little time in the room. The only other tiny gripe was that breakfast was only a 45 min window (8.15 - 9.00). Due to our fun packed days, we had to WAKE UP our toddler on 2 of the mornings so that we didn't miss breakfast.

This lovely stone cottage is a wonderful place to stay in Wndermere. It is within easy walking distance of good restaurants and pubs and is clean and neat as a pin. Joe, the host is very helpful and cooks up a super breakfast. This is a great base to use to see the Lake District.

Boyfriend and I stayed at Greenriggs for the weekend in Room 5 (which is in the attic) The B&B is in a good location in the centre of Windermere Village which is approximately a mile walk from Bowness and the Lake. Windermere has a some good restaurants and pubs, nice way to spend a few hours wandering around with its cute shops.

Greenriggs's rooms were very clean and comfy but it was dated - Joe was an excellent host and makes a cracking cuppa with a good breakfast.

Right upon my arrival at this lovely B&B, I felt in love with this stone cottage at the first sight. The host Joe is a very nice gentlement who prepares delicious british breakfast in person every moring for all the guests, and his inviting smiles welcomes all the visitors and makes them feel like home away from home. The room is very cozy and clean as well.
