Cote How is situated on the path between Pelter Bridge car park and the walk around Rydal Water.
We were pleased to find Cote How open on our return from our walk round Rydal Water on 9th March. As it was a pretty cold day, we took our dog back to the car (could have stayed with us at a garden table had the weather been warmer), but not allowed in the house.
Very welcoming owner and really good home made orgnic soup and exceptionally good bread made from sourdough (baker in Ambleside). We then had coffee and tea - simple lunch. Decaff coffee a bit lacking in flavour - only downside. Everything else about Cote How was great including the amazing large cloakroom. We called back on the following day for soup and bread before our walk and scones with jam and cream and tea after our walk. Very nice.
Everything is prepared on ordering and so you do have to wait, but after a good walk there is no problem with having some time to relax. Take a book, or your map to plan your next walk.
Price reflects the good quality ingredients - perhaps a tiny bit above average, but worth it. We recommend this place and will undoubtedly return.
