“lovely cottage, very homely feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

we had a great welcome from Nyree on our arrival, showing us around her home. everything we needed was at the cottage. Great base to start from A6 and M6 few mins, though you wouldn't know, no traffic noise, it was very peaceful and relaxing. Having quite a few walks...we all had a fantastic holiday the lake district is beautiful and Brackenber Lodge made holiday one of the best so far...Thankyou

“Home from home”

Stayed here for 8 nights whilst working in the area. Spotlessly clean and cosy place, used to form part of the old workhouse, a stunning building. Down a quiet lane but still close for local places of interest. Owners very helpful. Would have loved to have brought the family as it seemed a waste for just me!

“Great cottage for visiting Cumbria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This is an excellent well cared for and in five star condition.
The owners Nyree and Malcolm made us feel very welcome and explained everything we needed to know.
We would definitely recommend this cottage and look forward to booking again in the future.

“peaceful country setting...a great getaway location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Very peaceful and comfortable. The cottage was extremely clean and well kept. It offered everything needed for a short or extended stay. The country setting offered easy access locally as well as to the larger district. We wished we had more time to explore the area close to the cottage and town. Bring shoes that can get muddy, the paths can be a bit sloppy when it rains.

Liked best: Country setting combined with the comfort of the cottage.
Liked least: Location is a short drive from Windemere and other areas central to the district.

Management Response
Jun 23, 2013
Many thanks for a great review. Yes please bring waterproof footwear if you intend to go walking in the open countryside near the cottage as it can be muddy once you leave the road. Its well worth the effort as the cottage is a 5 minute walk along a road to the Lake District National Park with deserted fells and mountains to explore. Wellington boots are good for kids so they can play in the river or fish using the nets and buckets we provide.
