Myself and my boyfriend and his ten year old daughter stayed on the caravan for two nights at the Watermill at Little Salkeld and the trip far exceeded our expectations on every level. We met Barny and Bob the horse on the first day and had a peaceful ride to Little Salkeld with a stop at a pub and a village green on the way. Barny got us set up in our own field, showed us the ropes and left us to it. We cooked our meals on the open fire, explored the area, swam in the freezing river & enjoyed the treats offered by the Watermill tea room. The atmosphere at the Watermill was great - the perfect amount of community feel and inclusion. Bob was in the next field over so we could visit him during the day, and we also had a goat and plenty if chickens for company in the field. The last day Barny came to the site and we made our way back to Edenhall via a Druids circle. Barny was the perfect host - fantastic with my boyfriends daughter and had the balance of being on hand with the practicalities of staying in a caravan but leaving us to it spot on. On face value it doesn't seem like the cheapest trip, but when I consider the value of the adventure, and the fact that we had all the entertainment we needed on the caravan doorstep it really was worth every penny.
