We came across the Lowther Arms pretty much by sheer luck. We had been wandering around and trying various pubs, but didn't find any of them particularly appealing. Once we landed here, we stayed the rest of the evening. We also headed back in the next night.
Although we didn't eat here (no menu on display outside which would help) we did see the staff take on the feeding of a sizeable party and work flat out to get it to them. The food looked and smelled great - when we make it back to Penrith, this is certainly at the top of our destination list for grub. It is definitely pub grub, but that's not meant as a criticism.
The pub itself is very friendly and welcoming, with a great choice of beer on tap. A good atmosphere with a cracking jukebox too.
