“Lovely Lake with lots of activities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Gorgeous views, nothing to dislike. Plenty of boating opportunities for skilled sailors and amateurs.
Keswick launch is brilliant and can provide a whole days entertainment if you choose to hop on and off.

“Walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

We had a lovely walk around Derwentwater. It is approximately 9 miles all the way round and is reasonably flat. The scenery was beautiful and extremely peaceful

“Wonderful walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

Our hotel receptionist recommended this walk and we are so glad she did . Its between 4 and 5 hours walk at a steady pace but as its mostly flat with few gradients its relatively easy . The scenery and views are absolutely fabulous and there are two other benefits to this walk . En route there are a number of cafes and hotels . We stopped near Lodore Falls at the Mary Mount hotel for coffee . Very friendly staff and wonderful views from the hotel terrace .Later there is a canoe training centre with delicious ice cream. The other great thing about the walk is that there is a lake ferry which does a round trip stopping at 7 locations around the lake so we set off in the knowledge that should we get tired on way round we could get the boat back to Keswick from one of the well marked piers . We walked to the full length in the end and will remember this as a 'good one' for the future

“Walk the 10 mile flat loop trail - fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

There is a well marked, mostly gravel footpath that follows around Derwentwater and loops back to where you started after 10 miles. Start as Keswick, High Ladore or Portinscale. From Keswick or Portinscale you just look for lake shore paths and or public footpath signs to Kewsick or Borrowdale. Most is part of the Cumbria Way. Don't miss the western side of the lake. It's lovely and less populated.
We started at High Ladore and walked across the road, along a clear path through a field to cross a small river bridge. Follow the gravel path. Very easy walking - nearly all flat, some well spaced out tea rooms that allowed us to have morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in a very civilized way. There are only a few public conveniences along the way so plan ahead.

“Nice place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We did 1 hour scenic drive around Derwentwater lake and it took us around 3 hours because we stopped and took a lot of pictures. It is really nice valley around lake and very good place for hiking. Unfortunately we did not have enough time for hiking during our 2 weeks vacation around UK but we saw a lot of hikers.
