“Excellent hospitality, 5 minute walk to city centre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

We loved this B&B and the hosts really make you feel very welcome. It was one of the few that took us in for 1 night, although we ended up staying 2.
The B&B is just a short walk to the city centre, on a quiet street that has on-street parking. We really appreciated the proximity when getting a meal in the rain and cold!
We had a family room on the 1st floor, I think it was Room 3, which was very spacious and overlooked the road. The bathroom was a decent size and stocked with shampoo, soaps and shower caps.
Breakfasts were delicious - you can choose from several options or make other requests.
Thanks Alison and Wayne!

Luckily managed to make a booking for one Saturday night (most B&B's want 2+ nights). Advised we would be arriving about 11am & upon arrival we received a warm welcome & were able to access our room straight away as they had made the effort to clean that room first so it was ready for us. Stayed in room 6, a double e/s on the 2nd flr. Although small, it had everything we needed & was extremely clean. Breakfast the following morning was excellent & very filling. Unrestricted street parking outside & only 5 minutes walk to the town centre where we found the qwerky "17again" trinket shop come bisto/cafe where we had a lovely evening meal. Would definitely visit both again without hesitation.

Stayed for 2 nights in room 5 on the top floor. This was a family room with a huge king size double bed and a single bed. The room was nice and quiet and had views over the front.
The B&B was absolutely spotless, I don't think I've stayed anywhere that was as clean! Not a Spot of dust anywhere-not even in hard to reach places!
Nice little touches like a bowl of sweets on the tea/coffee tray, and shampoos and shower cap in the bathroom.
Very friendly owners who weren't in your face, but you felt would help with anything if need be.
Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, served between 8.15 and 8.45. There was free wifi-handy for gadget lovers!
Location-wise the B&B was very handy, being a 10 minute walk into the town centre, great on an evening if you wanted to have a drink with your evening meal.
We will definitely be staying again. Great value at £30 pppn.

We have stayed here on a number of occasions, last time was October 2011, we usually take our dog with us, every visit has always been lovely, Alison and Wayne are very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast is always freshly cooked and as much toast as you want. We will be staying again sometime in the near future without hesitation.

Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Cragside. Wayne & Alison were the perfect hosts & couldn't do enough for us.
The rooms are lovely and were cleaned to the highest standard. Breakfast was very nice and really set you up for the day.
I don't see why people would want to spend 2 or 3 times the price of the Cragside, when you won't get any better hospitality.

Cragside is one of the best guest houses that we have been to. The breakfast was excellent, the whole place was exceptionally clean the bathroom was well stocked with toiletries and refreshments in the room replenished daily. Towels were changed after the second day of our visit. The house was warm and the showers nice and hot which was great to come back to after a day on the mountains. The location is convenient for the town and is quiet with good views. We had a great view of Little Man and Skiddaw from our room (room 2). The price was very reasonable, 4 nights for two only cost £220.00. Wayne and Alison were perfect hosts who knew the area well and showed an interest in where we had been walking. We will certainly return ! Well done and thanks for making our short break so comfortable.

This was our third visit to Cragside and it continues to be as impressive as ever. We like the location (central, yet quiet), the views, which are stunning and of course the great breakfats and the well presented, clean and warm rooms.
Wayne and Alison are the perfect hosts and we will return again soon.
