We stayed at Allerdale House in Keswick for 5 nights from 9th April 2013, for our honeymoon. We chose to stay here because of the fantastic reviews on Trip Advisor.
We booked about 6 months in advance for our stay and communication between me and the owners (Barbara and Paul) was excellent, they even emailed me a couple of days before we arrived to check final details of the stay, which I thought was a lovely touch.
When we arrived we parked up in the car park, makes a change to having to find somewhere to park on the roadside. We rang the doorbell and were greeted by both Barbara and Paul and asked if we would like any help with our bags or a cup of tea after our long journey.
We were shown to our room, which was room 4 on the top floor of the bed and breakfast, awaiting in the room was a chilled bottle of bubbly and a card, we was not expecting this at all, me and my partner had got married a few days before the visit. Well first impressions were excellent.
The room was spotlessly clean and there was able space in the room. There was a kettle with tea/ coffee and border biscuits, which were delicious and stocked daily much to my husband’s delight. If you needed any glasses or more teabags or coffee, you could pop down to the lounge, which was available to all guests. A lovely touch, so you didn’t feel uncomfortable asking for more.
In the bathrooms, there was a selection of bath products, ear buds, and cotton wool and cotton pads. Extra toilet rolls were in the cupboard, if you ran out. There was a hairdryer in one of the drawers and if you needed an iron they were also available. A welcome pack offered great information on Allerdale House and the local area. If you needed another information Barbara and Paul were always at hand to recommend walks, nothing was too much trouble!
We really thought things couldn’t get any better, how wrong were we? Barbara’s breakfast was fantastic. There was a great choice. Cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, juices, coffee and a selection of fair-trade teas. You could also order cooked breakfast to your liking. The full Cumbrian breakfast is a must. All served by ever courteous Paul.
When we return to Keswick, there will be no other place we would stay from now on. This is truly a fantastic place to stay made all the better by the hosts Barbara and Paul.
We stayed in Room 4, beautiful view out of the room, you could see the mountains in the background...
