“Warm,cosy and very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We have just had a very cosy weekend in keswick staying at the Ellergill Guest House on Stanger Street. We normally choose this part of Keswick because after a long day in the fells, Stanger Street is ideally situated for the town centre and is quiet at night.
We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night with a last minute booking. We were offered 3 different grades of room and we chose room 4 at £85 per night as it was described as larger than the others with a king size bed...and what a very comfortable bed indeed...a great nights sleep.
The room was tastefully decorated, clean, spacious and the en suite was larger than what you would normally expect from a B&B. A big radiator kept the room warm when needed.
The owners were pleasant and unintrusive, getting the balance just about right. Breakfast was ok.
When we return to Keswick we would stay in Stanger Street again, and we would consider this establishment again too as the room was better than many we have stayed in in hotels.

Room Tip: Room 4 was at the top of easy stairs, with a good view fom a large window. The large bed is extremel...

A little delayed in writing this review but feel that Ellergill Guest House still deserves recognition. As a first timer to the Lakes, I had no idea on where to stay but I could not have asked for better. We stayed in Room 1, which was spacious, clean, comfortable, decorated lovely and had a wonderfully large and comfortable bed. The location of the B&B was perfect, a stones throw to the the town centre and near to the start of the walks we chose to take. The hosts were lovely and the cooked breakfast was fabulous and not over-facing. We visited in the middle of November for 2 nights and all in all we had a fantastic weekend and I would definitely return to Keswick, and without a doubt to this wonderful B&B. Thank you.

A fantastic overnight stay, the best bed, other than our own, we have ever slept in, beautiful room, everything you could ask for, compared to our recent stay in a 4 star hotel in Rome this wonderful B&B would rate as 8 star, attention to detail is great, very good quality breakfast, Claire and Robin are generous hosts, friendly and helpful.
Highly recommendable, best B&B we have stopped in.

Stayed here on many occasions and it never fails to impress. The owners Robin and Clare know how to be attentive but not intrusive, which can be rare in B&Bs. Wonderful breakfasts that are pure quality and don't leave you to full to walk. We enjoy are stays here more and more every time we come, and hope it never changes.

I have just returned from Ellergill. The room was absolutely spotless and beautifully furnished. Clare and Robin are lovely, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. You really could not expect anything more from a B and B.

Myself and my husband managed to escape family life for a whole 24 hrs and ended knocking on the door of the Ellergill. The owner's were very friendly and were able to offer us their last room. It was a very clean, quiet and comfortable room and had all the amenities we required. It didn't even bother us that the bathroom was not en-suite as it was exclusively for the room we were in. Breakfast was very good and there was plenty of choice to cater for all tastes. The B&B is situated within a 5 minute walk to the centre of Keswick and we had a fantastic time. Thank you Robin and Clare. We highly recommend the Ellergill.

Great location, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Our group of 4 had the 2 large rooms (1&4) which were spotlessly clean and had everything you need plus little treats were left on the bed which was a nice gesture. After we had climbed Haystacks in glorious sunshine there was plenty of hot water on our return. The breakfast is chosen the night before and there was a wide choice of food, freshly cooked and excellent quality

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 4 are large and have giant beds
