Lovely little find above a nice wine bar that serves breakfast lunch and dinner. Great location. car park behind is free 7pm till 8am, though we found free start parking around the corner. Short walk to Derwent water. Very handy for restaurants and bars. We ate at a Mexican Tapas nearby. Breakfast in morning was lovely Eggs Royale

A bit like other reviews really, nice place to stay but, same old niggles keep rearing their heads. We stayed in room 4 for two nights late Nov 2014, no central heating on (small electric heater in room with high ceilings) covered in cobwebs, single glazed windows, rock hard mattress, flat pillows x2 (I put the cushion off the chair under my pillows & it worked) not many tv options although, we were here for the walking, not tv. Other than this the staff were all very nice, the breakfast was very good although you do have to ask for things you want &, we ate one night in the bar which was very good, service wise & tasty (Tapas). Would we stay here again mmmmm no, not for the price but we would eat here again, also you have to pay for the car parking, £14.00 :-( ps, if you like a early night after a long days walk, the music downstairs doesn't go off till about midnight

We have been to the cafe bar many times over the past few years, but have never stayed overnight before. We were not at all disappointed. The room was clean and perfectly acceptable, the food (as we already knew) was excellent and the staff were absolutely wonderful. If you are looking for a hotel experience with flunkies in uniform then this is not the place to come. If you are looking for a place to relax, with a great atmosphere and the friendliest staff you can imagine, then you could not do better. (If you are lucky you might come on a night with live music, making it even better)

Sis recommended this place as she had visited before for a drink. Although the bar area is very nice our room (room No.1) was tiny! Had to plug the electric heater in as the radiator didn't work. There was water left in the kettle, we stayed for 2 nights but the bottles of water and sachets of shower gel weren't replaced. The scatter cushions on the bed STUNK, they desperately needed a wash!! We booked a double room but we had 2 single beds made up separately and pushed together! Nowhere to park unless you use the car park at the back of the Cafe - very expensive. Brekkie was good with plenty of choice although no white bread/toast option - odd! If you're an early to bed person be aware they have loud music playing in the bar in an evening.

Room Tip: DON'T STAY IN ROOM 1!! We would recommend you ask for a double bed as the 2 singles pushed toget...

We live in Whitehaven and have been a regular visitor to Keswick over the years. We have walked past Cafe Bar26 more times than I care to remember without actually ever going in (don't know why?). We were at a concert on Sunday night and we booked to stay here on a recommendation from friend's. The service, the ambience of the bar the bedrooms, food served during the day and especially the breakfast are all excellent and you will be hard pushed to find better value anywhere in Keswick. We will definitelybe stopping again. So don't walk past! Call in to this little gem!
