My 15 year old daughter and I visited the Keswick Dinosaur and Raptor Experience www.keswickdino.com during a wet and windy day in the October half term. It is situated in Otley road and has a large round sign outside it is where the old Mining Museum used to be which closed due to the retirement of the owner Ian Tyler.
We met the new museum owner Colin who was very friendly and helpful and told us that they had only been open for 6 months, we met the two owls Oscar and Puddle the Ashen faced Brown and my daughter enjoyed stroking them.
The museum has lots of real fossils and many very realistic resin models of dinosaurs to look at and a large cast resin model of a skeleton of a Raptor anatomically correct in every detail which was cast from each individual fossilized bone of a real dinosaur in the entrance. This museum is well worth a visit it is a fantastic place to take the children if they are studying Dinosaurs at school or are interested in learning about all the many different types of Dinosaurs which inhabited the Earth long before us.
The museum is well organised and even plays sounds of dinosaurs roaring to get you in the mood. There is a nice colouring room with a few good ideas of drawing round dinosaur cut outs etc. for the younger children and also a quiz for the children with lollipops at the end. There is a room showing a very good video about dinosaurs all in all a very good place for budding palaeontologists do go you won’t be disappointed.
