“Old fashioned tea rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

A slightly dilapidated tea rooms but a very warm welcome from the staff. There is a Yamaha 'self-playing' piano churning out jazz numbers which is pleasant. I initially just had a coffee & and cake which was very nice.
I later returned with my wife intending to have some lunch but discovered that the menu was quite limited. There were good basics like pies & sausage rolls, but my wife doesn't eat meat and there didn't seem to be any alternatives available.
The toilets are situated outside on the terrace area and I went to visit on the way out, however discovered that they were locked. Presumably the key is available from the staff.

“Handy for Derwentwater”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

We popped into the tea room as we just missed The Keswick Launch, and the next trip was an hour later. It is handy for Derwentwater, the park and The Theatre by the Lake. I would decribe the decor as unusual, quirky even old hat really, with the walls like fake castle walls. There is a self-playing piano in one corner which was different. I had a hot chocolate with rum which was nice on a cold day.

“Overpriced - even for Keswick”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

We went in this restaurant for a snack with our two small grandchildren. It was very quiet, mid November, not particularly warm inside, but acceptable, but what shocked us was the price. £13.05 for two coffees, two Capri Sonnes, a piece of cake, one scone, and two kit kats. We were horrified. How on earth they can charge these sorts of prices is beyond us. As locals, we will vote with our feet.
