“Catbells and Bull Crag”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

We walked from Kewick town centre, around the top of Derwent water and tackled Catbells from the north. It is a steep climb, but worth while. If you have time carry on along the ridge and up Bull Cragg, the next peak along. It really is worth it for the views. We were treated to a double rain bow, which framed the Derwent lake directly below us. What a magical day. You will need good walking boots or stout walking shoes, waterproofs/wind proofs as the terrain is rocky and the aspect is very open. If you are not used to lakeland walking the weather can change very rapidly so go prepared with layers of clothing. We experienced sunshine, rain, gale force winds, light winds, warm and near freezing and hail stones, all within a four hour period.

“Glad we ignored the rain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

A shortish walk and a sense of climbing a hill much bigger that it is. We walked the Catbells for the view but didn't get much of one due to the rain, but as its a low peak we were not in cloud and were pleased we took the challenge despite the rain. A good shorter day walk but make sure you're correctly equipped as its can still be blowy up there and there are a few areas of scramble. Will go again when the sun is out!

“great walk with brilliant scenery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

Just completed the catbells walk for the second time and it is one of my favourites, it is a steep climb from the start but the stunning views over derwent water and newlands valley soon make it all worthwhile as long as you take care over the rockier bits then you will be fine , if you carry on over maiden moor then drop down into grange then you will certainly deserve a cup of tea at either of the tea shops down there.one to walk with all the family.

“Superb views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

It is a walk that gives amazing views for such an easy climb. Combining it with the boat trip across the Lake from Keswick makes it even more of an enjoyable adventure.

“Very steep walk with great views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

This was our 3rd Wainwright. Was steeper than the 2 previous and my daughter who doesn't like heights did struggle. 2 of our group made it tot the summit but my daughter and I stopped as it got a little steep and rocky near the top. Fantastic views when you get up there though.
