“Excellent "Day of departure walk" ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Great views, easy Access, height gain in rapid short bursts direct from the car park.... For a big day out just keep going and there is a vast horseshoe to the south taking in High Spy, Dale Head and returning via Robinson. One of the Lake District classics.

“My First Fell Walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Wow.. Really enjoyed every bit of the Catbells Walk. Took a launch from Keswick and started the walk from Hawse End.Choose the Circular walk from Hawse End to Catbells summit and scrolled down to Derwent Lakeshore path walk through woods to Brandlehow and finally to Hawse End. The starting phase was pretty steep and steady. Since it was my first fell walk, i found it a pretty difficult. But i heard it as the most easiest fell if you are an expert. The pathway was a mix of well defined easy route, walking through ridges, steady steep with gravels and stones, a bit of rock climbing etc. But definitely worth when you reach the peak of the summit. The views of Derwent water and the surrounding mountains were really stunning. Nice place to enjoy and relax on a sunny day.

Essentials : Day backpack with lots of food and drinks to keep your energy up, suitable footwear is a MUST, Walking pole might be of additional support and of course proper clothing (suitable for the climate)

“Fabulous viewing point”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

A very trying walk but very much worth the effort. very steep in places and a bit of scrambling up the rocks required. Must wear appropraite clothing & footwear as weather can close in quickly. DO IT....
