“Night in Keswick.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

I stayed in The Rowan Tree recently with friends and thought it was so good I booked again with my husband and another couple to walk from the b&b up Skiddaw. The rooms were lovely and furnished to a high standard. The location is excellent being both quiet but very convenient to walk into the centre of Keswick. The hosts Amanda and Steve are friendly, accommodating and attentive. Finally the breakfast was excellent.

I brought my husband to the Lakes for a 3 day trip to climb some of the mountains just outside of Keswick. I wanted him to experience I a nice British B&B and I was extremely happy with my choice of Rowan Tree. Steve and Amanda gave us a warm welcome when we first arrived, along with great advice on where to eat in the area, as well as things to do, and shops to visit. Breakfasts were made to order from a menu we had to fill out of the night before and they were delicious and very filling! Our room was great with loads of space, awesome bathroom (hot showers which can be rare in England!), and our own personal tea/coffee station in our room which we loved. Steve and Amanda offer packed lunches for a minimal fee and they are extremely good value and good variety which was perfect for us since we were have way up a mountain during lunch time every day. We will definitely come back to this B&B!

I highly recommend this B&B. It's only a few blocks from the city center. Rooms are small but comfortable. Amanda and Steven are amazing hosts. Always readily available for enquiries or help. If you are looking for a relaxing stay then the Rowan Tree is where you want to
be.

We've been wanting to stay here since last November, when it was fully booked. Worth waiting...Amanda and Steve are great hosts - warm, inobstrusive, but full of great tips, stories and knowledge of the local area. They have redcorated The Rowan Tree to a high standard, the bed was great, decor calming and contemporary, powerful hot shower, the drying room is a bonus (if you've been out walking in the rain) and the fruit and greek yoghurt at breakfast is to die for! Really wish you well in year 2 of your business...we will keep in touch.

After a very warm welcome from Amanda and Steve, we were shown to our room which was immaculate and finished to a very high standard, as was the rest of the B&B. Very comfy beds! There is a handy drying room for wet boots and coats - an absolute must when we stayed! The B&C is located in a fabulous location - easy parking and only a 5 minute walk into Keswick town centre. Amanda and Steve gave us great advice on where to eat and drink in Keswick There was a huge choice of food for breakfast and can recommend the full Cumbrian breakfast to set you up for a day's walking on the fells. Nothing is too much trouble for Steve and Amanda and would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Rowan Tree and I will definitely be staying there again.
