“Stay here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I have seldom stayed in a B&B with such lovely proprietors. Gerry and Trevor went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and interesting. We had the lovely room which overlooked the back garden and had a marvelous view of the hills. After a long day of hiking and exploring I would relax on the bed and gaze out at the beautiful and restful view and it would renew me. Breakfast was varied and excellently prepared, with a few nice homey touches such as home-made lemon marmalade. The location could not have been better for enjoying the old part of town, finding nice restaurants and as a jumping off place for exploration. Stay here!

We stayed with Gerry and Trevor for three nights and they made us feel very welcome from the moment we checked in. The B&B couldn't have a better location (about a minute's walk from Keswick town centre and about 10/15 minutes from Derwent water). The room was excellent, very clean and modern as well as having spectacular views over the surrounding fells. Breakfast was also delicious - sourced from local ingredients and cooked to order. One of the nicest B&Bs I've stayed in - I would not hesitate to recommend it and hope to return soon!

The guest house is in the heart of Keswick with private parking which was a bonus. We have just stayed for 2 nights. We were met by Gerri who welcomed me by name which was very warming. She even helped to unload the car and carry the luggage up to the top floor! Not many hosts would do that. The room was spotless with added little extras like 2 bottles of drinking water, brewing facilities with tea, coffee and chocolate and biscuits. The room had a tv and a hair dryer, The bathroom had hand wash, hand cream, shower gel, soap and even cotton buds and make up remover pads! We met Terry at breakfast the following day and he was just as friendly as Gerri. There was so much to choose from at breakfast starting with home made fresh mixed fruit, 5 different cereals, yoghurts, orange juice and cranberry juice. Breakfast was anything from a full breakfast to 2 boiled eggs with soldiers!! All food was is fresh and locally sourced which is great for the community. Gerri and Terry have a collection of walking books/maps that they are happy to lend out. Gerri even photocopied some directions for me. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back. Many thanks for your hospitality....and your spoon :-)

Room Tip: We were in room 7 which is at the back of the house which has a view of Latrigg

A faboulous warm welcome from Gerry and Trevor got our stay off to a lovely start. Their local knowledge was such a bonus and they went out of their way to make suggestions and help with planning walks, days out etc. The Brierholme itself was spotlessly clean throughout and all the little added extras in our room were excellent (water, real tea bags, cotton buds, tissues, toilettries etc.). There was a communal fridge which was always stocked with fresh milk for the room and also for use by guests - very handy for keeping the beer cold!! Breakfast, cooked to order by Trevor, was delicious ranging from fresh fruit and cereal through to full english and Gerry's homemade lemon marmalade is a must.
The location couldn't be better - only one minute walk from Main Street with the bars and shops etc.
The best B&B we have stayed in in Keswick and we will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 which had lovely views of the hills.

Trevor and Gerry go to great lengths to welcome you and ensure a great stay, the accommodation is first class with a fantastic choice for breakfast. This is a great location and base for either touring or leaving the car and walking with Latrigg/skiddaw and Derwentwater so close. Great choice for eating out, pubs and even an old fashioned cinema that maintains the fantastic keswick experience.

Gerry and Trevor were lovely and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and made us feel at home - always enquiring about our plans and offering a wealth of local knowledge to help improve our days out. Breakfast was delicious- we had a full English every morning but there is a variety of different choices if you fancy something a bit different. Gerry serves loose leaf tea- and it is the best I've ever had- the tea back home just doesn't compare!

Our room was lovely, comfortable and airy, with views of Catbells and the surrounding landscape. We had a cosy bed, a tv and the hospitality tray was always well stocked with a range of drinks and biscuits! The en suite was small but had a fantastic shower!

While being nice and quiet, the B&B is actually only a few minutes walk from the main street of Keswick where you can find a number of pubs, restaurants and shops. Brierholme also has enough parking for each of the guestrooms, to both the front and back.

Would absolutely recommend. I spent a ridiculous amount of time reading reviews for B&Bs and we are so glad we settled with Brierholme. You just couldn't ask for better. We didn't want to leave!

The owners Gerry and Trevor are extremely friendly and helpful. They also cook a delicious breakfast (don't forget to try the lemon marmalade)! The B&B is in a quiet place but only a two minute walk from the town center. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a small but perfectly adequate en suite bathroom, and a great view of the hills.

Keswick itself is a very pleasant town with a lot of hiking paths around. We stayed five nights, and we did not have time to try all of them. We definitely recommend visiting, and staying at Brierholme.

Room Tip: We chose a room with a view of the mountains, and the view was really stunning!
