As a couple, we had a full day session (via ferrata and ghyll scrambling).
If you can overcome fear of heights and get to grips with the simple safety system, the VF is an unrivalled experience. Definitely the closest I will come to rock climbing. If like me you are unfamiliar beforehand with exactly what it is like, watch their youtube video.
Ghyll scrambling was great fun. There was a mix of children and adults. The kids and adults all loved it and there was great banter amongst the instructor and the group. Great variety in sliding, jumping, diving, head first backwards into a variety of pools!
Alastair was extremely welcoming and genuinely keen on making sure everyone was setup and ready for a great day.
Special mention to our instructor for the day Phil. As these activities feel extreme in comparison to everyday life, an instructor has the opportunity to enhance the experience. Phil went out of his way to deliver this! Passionate, interested in the group, supportive, encouraging, genuine - got the balance just right!
As a contacts lenses wearer, my only tip for the ghyll scrambling is to wear glasses with a strap around your neck or go without (if you can). You probably wouldn't wear them if jumping into a swimming pool, so no different out on the river!
