“Excellant Guest House - Definitely Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I have stayed in Keswick many times as it is one of my favourite places to visit and to walk. I've stayed in other B&B's or a couple of times at the YHA. Other B&B's have been lovely, the Parkfield goes that extra mile!! Sue and John were brilliant hosts - nothing was too much trouble, including getting our very wet walking clothes & boots dry for us after a wet day on the fells!! The rooms are decorated and furnished to a high standard, lovely hand soap and hand lotion provided and the quilt was wonderful - I wanted to take it home with me! Well stocked hospitality tray.
The icing on top of the cake at this establishment are the breakfasts!!!! The welcoming breakfast table that greets you on a morning looks stunning with a wonderful healthy choice of lots of different fruits , individual fruits plus a fresh fruit salad and the greek yoghurt is to die for!!!. All the standard stuff is there too ie. fruit juices and individual cereal packets but there is also croissants and pastries should you be inclined. I stayed for 2 nights, on the Saturday morning I chose the Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Egg with Sliced Brioche which was divine and on the Sunday morning I indulged in the Full English breakfast including the Cumbrian Sausage and Black Pudding. It was all cooked wonderfully and provided a hearty start to both days walking. I will definitely stay again, it was extra special - thank you.

Room Tip: I was travelling with my friend as we were walking for the weekend. If you are coming here as a cou...

A lovely B&B set in a traditional Keswick Guest house. Quite beautifully decorated and cared for. Extensive, attractive, probably modern art work, prints, some photographs and memorabilia adorning the walls in each of the rooms and public spaces. Well decorated, nice carpets and clean throughout. Our bedroom, was lovely, again nicely furnished great blinds and curtains, quiet - no noise and the en-suite toilet/sink/shower room, although compact functioned well. (own soap needed though). Breakfast; - excellent - benchmark fruit breakfast particularly water melon mix, (it is a B&B not a hotel so this was very very good). It was one of the few British hotels who offer pastries/croissant - which again suited one of our party, For those that like the traditional English breakfast or cooked alternatives, these were beautifully cooked too and local produce - Tea/coffee/fresh orange juice again excellent. Car park to rear - although handy having this especially near town, the owner needs to deal with the cars, if it is full. There is a beautiful dog, which lives with them at the back and although he barks a welcome, we found that a comforting supplement to the car park for security. Well, managed, friendly and above average comfort gave us an outstanding weekend.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front have a nicer view of the hills

My last visit to Keswick was a disaster and if I never returned it would not have been a problem. However, returned for a quiet and pleasant weekend and I have to say this was a great experience. No complaints at all the experience was exceptional and Sue and John were the difference as you cannot beat exceptional hosts with an exceptional breakfast. If you go to Keswick do not accept second best stay at the Parkfield Guest House.Sue and John you are amazing hosts thank you.

Due to a short notice booking our usual guest house was fully booked, so Parkfield Guest house was recommended. We were met at the door by John, who wasted no time in parking the car in the secure car park round the back and carrying the heaviest of the luggage up to the most beautiful room. Spotlessly clean, and with a view to take your breath away. Having had chance to view a couple of other rooms, we found them all to be of the same high standard. Nothing was too much trouble, and Sue's breakfast's are legendary. Parkfield Guest House will be our first choice in the future. On that weekend in May, we found the best Guest House in Keswick, looked after by two of the most friendly and welcoming people, who made our stay extra special. Thank You Sue & John.

Room Tip: We would have no objection to occupying any room available, such is the high standard of all the roo...

From the first moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a great visit. John met us at the door, introduced us to other guests and fixed us a nice cuppa tea before he moved and parked our car for us and helped us with our bags. He was always ready to help us in any way, from parking the car to cleaning muddy shoes. Our room, though small, was a treat, nicely decorated and with a comfortable bed and tea fixings. Just nice little touches, from the nice soaps to the snacks and bottled water, every comfort was anticipated. Breakfast by Susan was excellent, too. The location is a very easy walk to the park and lake, theater, and downtown with its pubs. Overall, I was just disappointed we couldn't stay longer!

We came across this guest house a couple of years ago and could not believe our find! We visit a couple of times a year ! We would highly recommend this for position, round corner to centre of Keswick, spotlessly clean and Susan n John really nice people. The rooms modern n cleaned each day, breakfast brilliant and sets you off for the day! Nothing is too much trouble, they just go the extra mile to ensure your stay is the best! Car parking is at the back of the guest house and room for all cars.
I would not hesitate to recommend this guest house to anyone! Some of my friends now visit and they thank me for telling than about this special find !

A little piece of Heaven that must have slipped through the net. My wife and I have just come back from a week end at this fabulous Guest House. Home from home plus extras. John and Susan are excellent hosts. John with his friendly and helpful manner and Susan with her cooking skills produces a Breakfast to die for. You want it and it'll be served cooked to perfection. There is also a selection of fresh fruit, cereals and toast washed down with plenty tea or coffee. We stayed in room 4, which is a recent conversion of 2 rooms, and is massive with a huge bathroom. The premises throughout are spotless and tastefully decorated. We have already booked to go back in June, can hardly wait. Go on give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
