The views are awe inspiring and gorgeous of surrounding mountains. Parking is free. Definitely worth the trip, especially in clear weather.

“Magical place in the middle of mountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

The stone circle is very easy to access by car. You can park for free about 50 meters far from it. It was not busy at all when we were there during autumn half term holidays.

There are information panels around but the main beauty of the place is just to walk around the stones, touch them and enjoy the beauty of the place. There is nice view of the surrounding hills.

“Loved this stone circle!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

We arrived at Castlerigg after driving up the very narrow Castle Lane from the A591. Luckily we only came across a farmer on a quad bike, and not a car, so he was able to reverse! The countryside around the circle is beautiful! There weren't too many people when we visited, and there was just a really peaceful feeling about the place. To be able to touch the stones, and enjoy the scenery, was lovely. You must visit this circle if in the area.

“Mystical...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2014

Though smaller and less impressive than the Stonehenge these stone circles however belong to the same time period. Best thing about this site is that there is unrestricted access to the attraction. No admission fee and one can walk around the stones and even touch them. One can get there by car or even walk there from Keswick. It is a 2.8 Km uphill walk. Free parking at the site by the side of the road.
