“OUTSTANDING HONEYMOON REPLACEMENT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

We spent two fantastic nights in this outstanding hotel at the weekend and cannot rate it highly enough.

Everything was first class and nothing was too much trouble . . . the food really was as fantastic as was recommended and the Full Cumbrian Breakfast was the best breakfast we have ever had . . . we now fully appreciate the concept and benefits of locally sourced produce.

Thank you for an outstanding stay . . . The view from Room 16 is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and the balcony was a real bonus . . . we felt just short of being on the Italian Honeymoon we sadly had to cancel for health reasons and we will certainly be coming back.

Room Tip: Room 16 is outstanding and ideal if you like a balcony . . . will will perhaps chose Room 17 for ano...

We stayed here for two nights on our cycling holiday. The hotel building is constructed from slate and looks beautiful. Access via the front of the house is a little problematic for folk with mobility issues, there is however level access at the rear of the building.

A very friendly greeting, and immediate help with our bicycles and panniers, and our stay was off to a good start. We were shown to our room (Woodford Room), and we were immediately impressed with the styling, quality of furnishings and attention to detail. And the attached bathroom (with cavernous free-standing bath) matched the quality of our room perfectly. Looking at the hotel's website hints that the other rooms are just as well appointed.

Our enjoyment was not diminished by the hotel's restaurant. We dined both nights at the hotel (which we have reviewed separately) and can not fault it in any way.

The Highfield hotel well deserves its various accolades. Everything but the star?? The Michelin Star that the kitchen richly deserves!

Room Tip: I do not think you would be disappointed with any of the rooms, and the Woodford is certainly superb...

The welcome Nick gave us on our arrival made us feel at home immediately. The room was spotless and very comfortable with an amazing view. The canapes and drinks served on the veranda took us back to another era. The dining experience was on another level, everything was cooked to perfection fine dining at it's best ,an enjoyable stay will be returning.

Room Tip: Would choose a bay windowed room.

We have just returned from a four day break at the Highfield. This is a fabulous hotel with such great service from all the staff. So friendly and so professional. The food served here is on par with any top restaurants. I would highly recommend a stay here. We will certainly be returning

Spectacular scenery and gracious staff. We particularly enjoyed cocktails in the front garden and breakfast and dinner were very good. Our room, on the third floor, was a little too warm. This was probably due to the fact that the weather was unseasonably hot for the Lake Country. We were given a fan for the room and the staff did their best to make us as comfortable as possible. Keswick is a wonderful base from which to explore the Lake Country. The boat ride around the lake was fun.

Room Tip: Avoid the upper floors in warm weather,

Have just taken my elderly father to Highfield for 1 night after a recommendation from friends and wish we had booked for longer. The staff could not have been more helpful and attentive without being intrusive and overpowering.
The food was absolutely exquisite, the chef is truly deserving of 2 Rosettes and I now need to get back on my bike to lose a few pounds!
Thank you for a truly lovely stay and hope to be back very soon.

Nice room if a tad small. Very clean with lovely views. The garden was tidy and colourful with seats and tables to enjoy the view. Easy, short walk into Keswick. We had an evening meal in the restaurant one night and the standard was excellent, wish we had done it most nights as Keswick did not have much more than basic pub food in the town. Must mention the hotel staff as they were very polite, helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Look at pics of all the rooms online and read descriptions before booking
