“See How They Run”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We were up in the lakes for a long weekend and decided to go to the theater something we hadn't done in ages. The theater itself is just out of the town center on the road to the lake but easily walk-able. Its a new modern building and therefore clean tidy and not showing any signs of ware. The staff were polite and helpful and there is also the option of a pre-performance meal, we didn't have this but had a cheeky peek at some body elses meal and that looked OK. The performance itself was brilliant and the casting spot on, I dont think I've ever seen a play that was that well cast and performed in a long time.

“Sunday lunch in the cafe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Stopped here for Sunday lunch in the cafe when the Jazz Festival was on. It was very busy and a little chaotic in the cafe but understandable in the circumstances. Had a wait for our food after ordering but it was OK when it arrived. Didn't go into the auditorium but we could hear the session that was on and it sounded good. Facitilites were very good, and the staff were polite and friendly if a little 'overstretched' but given the amount of people in for the Jazz Festival (who all wanted food and drinks at the same time during the breaks between the sessions) they were doing a sterling job.
We will try a return at a time when things are a little more 'normal' and experience a play or show in the theatre.

“Beautiful interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Built with lottery funding, this lovely theatre looks as if it has always been sitting here by the lake but it is only about 10 years old. Stone, slate and wood used by the architect (I've no idea who designed it) give it a timeless look and feel. The seats are comfy with a good view of the stage - we like the back row downstairs - and it has a nice cafe. There's also a small studio theatre and art/photography exhibitions upstairs.

“Fantastic location and great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I have been to talks and a play at the Theatre, which has a pleasant auditorium and good facilities. You'd be hard pressed to find a performace facility in a better location - wonderful views over Derwentwater and a very pleasant walk to reach it from the town.
