Karen C a couple of reviews earlier sums the D & G up perfectly. As the title suggests this is our favourite pub in Keswick and usually our first port of call when in the area, this is mainly due to the always available Theakstons Old Peculier on tap. We tend to visit during the day rather than on an evening, so if you beat the lunch time rush you can get a table, trouble is when travelling as a couple you usually end up with someone wanting to share the table, which i find a bit off putting when i am eating.
We don't have a dog, but we do love dogs so dog friendly nature of the D & G isnt a problem for us - but anyone who doesn't like dogs probably shouldn't come here.
Food is basic but OK if your hungry after a walk on the fells, beer is excellent with OP and usually a wide variety of ales from local breweries.
Staff are usually good and friendly although we did get served by a young lad who never managed a please or Thank You during the whole visit, which i find really ignorant.
