We visited the Pack Horse whilst on our anniversary weekend in Keswick, we didn't eat there but had a few drinks. I find it a lovely traditional country pub, the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great, chatting to other patrons is something you just don't get elsewhere. The drinks were a bit pricey at over £10 for a glass of wine and a bottle of Ginger Beer, so couldn't stay there all night but great for a couple of drinks, plus I guess it's to be expected in tourist areas.
The one down side was waiting to get served, we weren't in a hurry so didn't matter a great deal but hubby was at the bar for some time. The second time we went in it was very quiet and although we got served without issue, some other people came in a little while after us and walked out as no-one was serving, I couldn't see the bar but assume there was no staff on.
This is a shame as people were leaving without trying the fab ales.
Will definitely visit again, but hoping more staff on the bar.
