This house we found quite easily, and were able to park 30m away, across the road.
Though the house is unprepossessing externally, the proprietors have created a small, but tasteful, breakfast room to accommodate their guests in their four bedrooms. We were allocated room-2 for our two nights booking in late October. Our room was at the front of the house, on the first floor, facing onto the road outside. It was not double glazed but we experienced no great disturbance from passing traffic.
The room was adequately furnished with a large wardrobe, flat screen TV and a chest of draws (tea & coffee making facilities Inc.), the settee was and added bonus. We found the bed to be warm and comfortable, though we had to stack the several cushions with the pillows in order to sit up in bed without the discomfort of the iron & brass bed-head. The bijou shower room was also well equipped. Our room was spotlessly clean. The teddy bear was banished to the fireplace! We found the room temperature to be perfect, and were glad of the comfort & shelter Burnside presented during the extremely wet three days of our stay.
Full English breakfast was taken and greatly enjoyed. We would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone heading for the lakes.
We found Room-2 on the first floor to be spacious & comfortable

As ever we our grateful that 'Peter B' has taken the trouble to write a review of his stay with us.

However we are a little disapointed with the tone of the review. Our breakfast room comfortably accommodates 4 tables; 1 for each of our rooms including a larger table for families or couples holidaying together and has cosy woodburner too.
We believe all our rooms are more than 'adequately' furnished; room 2 in particular has a 32" flat screen TV, antique furniture and retains many period features.
We have made a concious decision not to replace the original sash windows throughout the B&B. However in response to cutomer feedback via Tripadvisor etc have had them renovated, at no small expense, to improve insulation and ensure good sleep quality for our guests.
When sitting up in bed we recommend using 2 pillows (supplied) whether against an 'iron & brass' wooden headboard. For hygiene reasons we don't use leather or fabric alternatives.
Overall we're pleased with this review though diasagree that our location is average. We're just under 1 mile from the centre of Keswick near enoght to walk or taxi cheaply but away from the hustle & bustle.
Lastly this reviewer forgot to mention that he received an unprompted upgraded room free of charge. When we can go the extra mile we do though unfortunately can't control the weather.
