We picked here for a meal on our one-night stay in Keswick on the basis of earlier reviews. We had booked, but it would not have been necessary as there were worryingly few people in. However, I think that was because we ate fairly late and it seemed they had been bust earlier and we need not have been concerned!
The restaurant is quite small but cosy with a fairly short menu, but full of interesting options. I personally would rather have that than a never-ending list that doesn't inspire confidence that things are freshly-prepared.
Our dishes were indeed freshly prepared. I had pork, which was well cooked in an interesting sauce. My wife enjoyed the plaice goujons which she found very fresh in a light batter.
We shared an excellent Pinot Noir which wasn't cheap, but worth the cost. We also shared a cheeseboard which comprised pleasant local cheeses but a little more variety would have made it perfect.
Service was excellent and friendly and overall we enjoyed a relaxing and very good meal - most welcome at the end of a tiring day. We would go back.
