“Pretty good B&B though noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

First, the good things: the breakfast was nice (particularly good yoghurt and fresh fruit), the room very clean, the hosts friendly and there was a comfortable shared lounge. However, the shower was weak (like any with electric unit), the shower head a little grubby (and broken so you couldn't adjust it - forgot to tell the hosts), and the room was noisy because (a) it was on the route back from the town for many guest houses and (b) it overlooked a Spar shop that had deliveries before 7am every morning. It was tricky getting a parking spot (goodness knows what it's like in high season) and it was a bit chilly (single glazed, poorly fitting sash windows - good job it wasn't winter). Our stay was alright but probably won't be coming back.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the side street are probably quieter

Hello Michael. Firstly many thanks for making the effort to write a review of your recent stay here at Easedale House, and for your very nice comments. There are, however, some issues which I would like to address. Firstly the shower. Yes they are weak, when comapred to power showers, but not so weak as to make a difference, as we have not had any complaints before about this particular shower. As for being "Grubby" and "Broken", well we pride ourselves on cleanliness and would refute any claims that that the shower was grubby. It also isn't broken, I checked as soon as I saw your review, we have had other guests in there since, and it is simply not broken. I find it difficult to understand that you would not mention that to me during your stay, especially as you were here for 3 nights. if you had Im sure I could have put right any problems you were having with the shower. Yes we are on the route from town back to many other B&B's, which means that we have a great location. One of the slight downsides to that is that guests may occassionally experience some outside noise, which is regrettable but not really something we can do an awful lot about. The same is true of the Spar shop. It is great having a small supermarket literally on our doorstep, and the Spar enjoys a lot of patronage from guests here at Easedale House. Again, the small price we pay for such a convenient facility is that we may experience a little noise during deliveries. Again beyond our control. Chilly? Your partner asked us for extra blankets, which were of course willingly provided. The central heating was on, which is thermostatically controlled in each room by the guests, and you were also using the towel rail for extra warmth. Your partner told us she had recently been unwell, which was why she was feeling cold. It seems a tad unfair to try to imply the house was chilly, when no one else had any issues at all with the heating, and we were pretty full during your stay. As for parking, well the vast majority of our guests manage to find a parking space with 2 minutes of the house, so very rarely is there an issue. However it is Keswick, and at peak times there are parking issues all over town. Its a popular place after all!! If you do choose to stay with us ibn the future, or anywhere else for that matter, please do tell of any issues that you are experiencing, as they mostly can be sorted out simply and quickly. No one lies guests to leave with negative thoughts

Many thanks

Danny and Bernie

Stayed here whilst on walking weekend with the boys. Owners very accommodating and friendly. Recommended pubs and restaurants. Booked as in for a curry. Nice rooms, hot showers, comfy beds. All good. Enjoyed the full cumbrian breakfasts. Great location for walking and close to town centre for evenings. Will return for sure!

Four of us had a two night stay here while walking in the Lakes. First the down sides. With no private parking it's park where you can in the nearby streets. With it being back end of the season I was able to park nearby. Some of the bedrooms look over a minor road that leads to a Spar shop and while I was there they was a deliver lorry unloading outside my bedroom window at 7am in the mornings. Being a early riser that did not bother me, but other may find it a problem.

My room was clean and had everything that you would expect from a good B&B. The breakfast was at the upper end that your find in B&Bs and was served with a smile. The bonus to me was the banter with the owners. So yes if your after somewhere to stay while walking or just sightseeing in and around Keswick then this could be the place for you. I'm already planning a return visit.

Danny and Bernie were friendly and welcoming to our family of four from far, far away. Rooms very clean and comfortable, location close in but quiet, and the best hosts you could ask for. They were really knowledgeable and helpful with dinner recommendations, day trips, walks, and so forth. Delicious breakfast. Great stock of reading material in the lounge downstairs, if you get rained in. Our kids loved the in-room video games as a way to wind down at bedtime.
