Having never been to the Lake District before, our stay was made all the more enjoyable by staying at this wonderful Guest House.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. It turned out to be perfect for our stay. It had everything we required, plenty of storage room, tea/coffee making facilities, television and a very comfortable bed. The en-suite facilities were great and the shower a welcome relief at the end of a hard day in the sun.

We then enjoyed a welcome pot of tea/coffee and homemade cake outside in the sun admiring the breathtaking view - at this point we knew it would be a good few days.

Our hosts, Arnold and Sharon, were incredibly helpful regarding the local area, things to do and see, as well as places to eat. The Wheatsheaf and the Sun Inn are well worth a visit, the portions are huge and the quality very good. We particularly appreciated Arnold's recommendation of an alternate road route to Windermere - breathtaking.

When it came to choosing what to have for breakfast the choice is very varied - more than many other bed and breakfast establishments - meaning you are never stuck for options. You'll find something you really want. I particularly enjoyed the cooked cumbrian breakfast, whilst my wife said the scrambled eggs were the best she had eaten.

All in all we had a great stay and would recommend Lakside Country Guest House to anyone looking for good quality accommodation in a beautiful part of the lake District.

If you are looking for an excellent self catering lodge, for 2/4 people, situated in the Lake District then look no further. We have just completed our second visit to the lodge and we will be returning!
After a day's walking in the hills the lodge offers clean, cosy surroundings with plenty of hot water to wash away the aches of the day. The lodge is situated in the garden of the Lakeside Country Guest House and is very well equipped to satisfy all your needs. The kitchen is well equipped and the lounge area is attractively appointed and offers a relaxed, comfortable ambience. A wooden staircase leads up to the double bedroom which is laid out in a gallery style overlooking the lounge. The thoughtful layout along with real wooden flooring gives a light, spacious feel.
Clean towels, toiletries, bedding are all provided with the inclusion of hair dryer. TV/DVD, Freeview, dishwasher and microwave give this lodge a quality feel. Guests have free use of the separate laundry, utility room situated in the garden.
The owners, Sharon and Arnie, are very friendly and are always on hand to advise and supply anything that might be needed. The lodge is well positioned to allow quick access to the northern lakes and hills. Keswick and Cockermouth are only a 10 minute drive away. For us the lodge provides all we could ask for and we look forward to our next visit.

this was our second visit over the last 5 weeks, we found it very comfortable, made very welcome, the best breakfast I have ever had, the rooms are spacious with views over the lake.
ideal for children, spacious with lots of board games to keep them occupied. I would recommend the Lakeside if you want to feel at home in pleasant suroundings.

we stayed at the lakeside guest house on the 14th march for 2 nights just a break away from the usual chores at home. what a choice we made it was excellent the service we recieved from the moment we got there was first class. the room was beautiful with a view to die for sharon was very efficient with everything we asked for. Sharon said make yourselves at home + thats exactaly what we did. Arnies breakfasts were lovley make sure you have a big appetite though. i would reccomend this guest house to anybody its more than home from home.

We have just returned from a weekend break in The Lakeside Country Guest House, which is in a lovely location on the edge of Bassenthwaite Lake.We stayed for two nights bed and breakfast.

We were welcomed on our arrival with a tray of tea and biscuits in the warm and comfortable lounge, a lovely touch. We were offered lots of friendly advice about the area. In the lounge is an informative folder of local eating places which we found very useful.
Our room was a superior room, ensuite, which had wonderful views of the lake, it was very clean and comfortable with all the amenities that you could need. Tea and coffeee making tray, hairdryer, even a hot water bottle was provided but that wasn't required. The bathroom was very clean and included the use of some toiletries. The bed was comfortable and the bedding was of high quality, towels were soft and fluffy.
The breakfast was very good my husband had a full cumbrian breakfast and I had poached eggs on toast, which were cooked perfectly. There was also a selection of cereals and fruits or you could choose a continental breakfast if you so wished. We were offered extra tea and toast but that wasn't necessary as we had a large teapot which we found sufficient.

There are parking spaces at the front of the guest House.

We spent the weekend exploring the area which was very enjoyable despite the windy weather on the Saturday, we went on a local walks in the nearby forrest and explored the local Mire House gardens and lakeside walk. It is much less busy and not as commercial as the Windermere area.

We particularly found the evening meal and Sunday lunch very good at the nearby Sun Inn, but you need to book or arrive early to avoid dissapoinment as it gets very busy.

I could recommend this guest house to anyone wishing to spend an enjoyable weekend in the North Lakes.

We had a wonderful weekend and we would definately return.
