I last visited the Blue Bell over 10 yrs. ago and at the time it was a lovely pub/hotel with excellent home cooked food and a welcoming atmosphere; sadly no more. We only popped in for a meal but I feared the worst when the bar had no real ale and the barmaid was not overly welcoming. On the plus side, there was a fire lit in the bar area and although a little faded the bar was still comfortable, but the food was pure 1970's motorway service station; limp vegetables from a freezer bag, anaemic chips and gravy that tasted like it was straight from the Bisto granules bag.
