“Convenient and friendly.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Stayed here en route home from Scotland. Very handy for the M6 but quiet with good parking. Room was light and a good size with a comfortable bed. Good shower and refurbished bathroom. Dinner in restaurant was excellent although some of the the tables for two were rather close together. Staff were friendly and breakfast good. Would definitely stay here again to break a journey or for a short break.

We stayed here for one night on our way home from London. The room was spacious and very quiet. The bathroom could do with a good clean, the floor needs a good scrub with bleach and the shower head had mould on it.
The food in the restaurant is excellent and the bar is lovely with a friendly helpful bartender.
The ladies toilets need a good clean as well as there were cobwebs and one of the toilets flush button was broken.
Breakfast was good.
I would stay here again.

I realise that, having noted the other guests this weekend, my husband and I (mid-30s) probably aren't the target age-range (50-plus) for this hotel so that is probably reflected in our review of this hotel.

Good points: great location for where we needed to be; great food; great friendly service from the staff; professionally run.

Bad points: very, very expensive for the actual accommodation. Rooms are totally soul-less and quite basic, even in the larger deluxe rooms. Seriously in need of an overhaul to demand such prices. Room smelt of cigarette smoke; bed made up of two twin beds (though was comfy); bathroom paint peeling; shower constantly dripping and decor very dated. Our room was in the annexed 60s/70s looking part, so wasn't at all in keeping with the 'rustic charm' advertised in the website's pictures. Lots of spiders too!

In sum, a 3* hotel is what it is and if it's a luxury weekend you're looking for, you will need to look elsewhere (and it'll probably be cheaper).

We stayed at Crooklands Hotel on 9th September 2013 and were vert impressed. This Hotel is in a great location just off the M6 and just outside Kendall. The facilities and the rooms were excellent. Food in their Resteraunt was of a high standard and reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful and keen to ensure all needs were effectivly responded to.
Will stay again when in this area.

We stopped of late this evening three hungry tummy's mors than ready for tea after a long drive home from a day trip to york our young toddler was well catered for and the staff we're lovely with her. The food was faultless, the resturant was nice a little corporate looking compared to the traditional style of the bar, But still a nice pub.

Although I've lived locally for years this was the first time I've been here its beautifully decorated. The food is great delicious and filling also plenty of choice. However the outstanding element was the staff they were wonderful especially with our daughter who loved their friendliness. Yet for all this the bill was very reasonable I'm sure we will be back.

We stayed here for four nights while visiting the lakes, what a surprise a great looking hotel staff super friendly nothing to much trouble, Vic was very informative suggesting places to visit, our room was great fully functionable clean and comfortable. We ate there each night and really enjoyed the food down to earth with a touch of inventivness good quality well presented. We would go back again and honestly I can't wait.
